The horse is a herbivorous animal. Over its long development, due to the influence of the natural environment in different regions and the needs of social and economic development in different periods, the horse's uses went through many stages including meat, milk, agricultural production, and transportation. So, what animals are the natural enemies of horses?

1. What animals are the natural enemies of horses

The main natural enemies of horses are lions, hyenas, tigers, wolves, leopards and others. However, horses in our country today are all domesticated and basically have no natural enemies. If released into the wild, blood-sucking insects would bite them, and some blood-sucking insects can transmit diseases, which would affect the horses' health.

2. The living habits of horses

Wild horses like to live in groups, generally consisting of one stallion, several mares and their offspring. Each population has a clear range of activity and migrates at a speed of 5-10 kilometers per day. Wild horses feed on desert plants such as Achnatherum splendens, saxaul, reeds and red willow, and in winter they can dig through snow to forage for dry grass. Individuals in the group often groom each other's skin after eating, gently nibbling and licking each other's withers, shoulders, back sides and hindquarters. Sometimes they also groom themselves, such as rolling, self-brushing and driving away mosquitoes and flies. Wild horses communicate with each other through sound, smell and behaviors such as ear-pinning, pawing the ground and nibbling.
