1. The living habits of horses
Wild horses like to live in herds, generally consisting of one stallion, several mares and their offspring. Each population has a clearly defined range of activity and migrates at a speed of 5-10 kilometers per day. Wild horses feed on plants such as Achnatherum splendens, saxaul, reeds and red willows on the desert, and in winter they can dig through the snow to forage for dry grass.
After feeding, individuals in the group often clean each other's skin, gently nibbling and licking each other's withers, shoulders, back and hindquarters. Sometimes they also groom themselves, such as rolling, self-brushing and driving away mosquitoes and flies. Wild horses communicate through sounds, smells and behaviors such as ear-pinning, pawing the ground and nibbling.
