How to use a guppy breeding box? Detailed guide to the correct method

After rinsing and disinfecting the breeding box you bought or made yourself, place it in the fish tank, then put the guppies that need to be isolated into it. Because breeding boxes are generally used to hatch and isolate guppies, they can prevent injuries and death caused by fighting. Below is an introduction to how to make a breeding box.

How do you make a breeding box?

1. Prepare an empty, transparent 1L or 2L beverage bottle, depending on your needs. Then prepare a bath loofah.

2. Clean the bottle thoroughly, and if possible, disinfect it with potassium permanganate tablets or solution at a ratio of 1:10000; disinfect for 10-20 minutes, and remember to remove the label from the bottle.

3. Use scissors to cut open the upper 1/3 of the bottle body, splitting the bottle into two halves. At this point, the part with the bottle mouth is the female fish birthing chamber. The lower part of the bottle is the fry activity chamber.

4. Remove the bottle cap and use scissors or a knife to pierce through it. It is best to remove the entire top of the bottle cap, so that the fry can leave the birthing chamber directly after being born.

5. After completing the upper and lower parts, drill holes in the birthing chamber and the fry activity chamber, so that the water in the main tank and the water in the isolation birthing chamber can circulate and flow.

6. After wrapping it with the bath loofah, drill two holes in the upper part of the isolation box and thread a line through them to prevent it from sinking to the bottom. In this way, a simple breeding box is ready.
