How to Propagate Anubias? Introduction to Common Propagation Methods
Anubias is native to the tropical freshwater waters of western Africa. It is cultivated in aquariums throughout China. Anubias is relatively shade-tolerant and can grow well even in bright places without direct sunlight, so how do you propagate Anubias?
1. How to Propagate Anubias?
Anubias is mainly propagated by cuttings, and methods such as division and tissue culture can also be used for raising seedlings. Cuttings of Anubias are very easy, mostly using stem tips as material, with a very high survival rate.
2. How to Grow Anubias?
1. Water quality
Anubias prefers slightly harder water; if the water is too soft, it will affect the growth of Anubias. An appropriate amount of lime should be added to the water to prevent conditions such as root rot.
2. Light
An appropriate amount of light can make Anubias grow stronger, but direct sunlight should be avoided. This is because strong light will cause the leaves of Anubias to turn yellow and wither. Under normal circumstances, exposing it to sunlight in the morning and evening each day is enough.
3. Changing water
Anubias generally has its water changed once every two days. It is recommended that the water used for each change does not cover the roots of the plant, because this will affect the respiration of the roots and is unfavorable to its growth.
4. Fertilizing
Anubias grows relatively quickly, and the natural nutrients in the water alone can hardly meet its needs, so it needs to be fertilized once every half month. The fertilizer should be a nutrient solution with few side effects and easy absorption.
Anubias is amphibious and is mostly used in cultivation for indoor water landscaping. It is a good material for decorating containers such as glass cups, glass tanks, and glass bottles. It can also be used as a foreground plant in aquarium cultivation.
