Key Technical Points for Winter Farming Management of Crayfish
Crayfish is a limited-season delicacy every summer, but restaurants in many cities have their own breeding bases, so crayfish can also be eaten in other seasons. Although they are not as big as in summer, they still satisfy the appetite. So how do farmed crayfish overwinter? Let's take a look!
1. How do farmed crayfish overwinter
Farmed crayfish need a relatively warm environment in winter, and the pond water temperature should be maintained. Patrol the pond 2 times a day, and take countermeasures promptly if any abnormality is found.
2. Daily management of crayfish
(1) Feed at the right time. Before overwintering, feed more animal feed to strengthen their constitution and increase the winter survival rate. During overwintering, crayfish do not forage, but when the weather is clear and warm, they leave their burrows and forage a small amount. At such times, small trash fish and shrimp, snail, clam and mussel meat, animal viscera, and other animal bait can be fed in good time to supplement their body nutrition.
(2) Adjust water quality well. During overwintering, the water level in the pond should be kept above 1.5 m to maintain the pond water temperature. If the water level is too shallow, replenish water in good time to prevent crayfish from frostbite and freezing to death; if the water is too fertile, change the water in good time, keep dissolved oxygen in the water above 4 kg/L and transparency above 40 cm, and prevent crayfish from dying of hypoxia and suffocation.
(3) Patrol the pond regularly. Patrol the pond 2 times a day, and take countermeasures promptly if any abnormality is found. During overwintering, every 10 days to 15 days, splash 20 kg of quicklime per mu over the whole pond to disinfect the water, supplement calcium, and prevent disease.
