How to Keep Goldfish at Home
Goldfish are kept by many people at home as ornamental fish; they are not only attractive but also make the home livelier. So what are the ways to keep goldfish at home?
1. Fish tank
Prepare a relatively spacious fish tank. The quality of the tank does not need to be very good, as long as it is fairly suitable for everyday keeping. But the fish tank must be a relatively clean one, and if [using it] several times, the water needed in the tank must be prepared by sunning it three or five days in advance. The water source can actually be tap water, but you should know that tap water contains a large amount of chemicals and some other bacteria, and these things may very likely have an adverse effect on the goldfish's health, so the water must be put into the fish tank several days in advance and placed under the sun for sunning. This not only allows some of the chemicals in the water to evaporate, but sunlight can also kill the bacteria. The benefit of doing this is that it can provide a relatively healthy state for the goldfish's growing environment.
2. Choosing goldfish
There are actually not many requirements for choosing goldfish, but you must choose relatively lively ones that can swim around in the fish tank; their mental state and physical health are also better, and after being brought home and kept, they can also survive for a very long time. There are actually no special requirements for the breed, unless the pet owners have a rather special feeling about goldfish, in which case they can actually choose some goldfish of particular breeds.
3. Putting them into the fish tank
First put them in a relatively dark environment and let them get used to the surroundings first; this can also ease their psychological tension, and doing so will not let them easily end up dead. On the second or third day, they can actually be put into the fish tank, but do not gather around to watch them all the time, because goldfish, like other small animals, are very easily stressed small animals. If humans watch them for a long time, they may become anorexic or even stop eating, ultimately leading to death. So after pet owners put them into the fish tank and add a certain amount of fish food for them, they can leave.
4. Feeding
When feeding goldfish normally, you must choose relatively healthy fish food. Do not choose some relatively poor-quality but large-quantity food just because it is cheap, as this will also have a very bad effect on their health. The reason many people cannot keep goldfish alive is that they choose some relatively poor-quality food, and the various nutrients in their normal diet are not balanced enough. There are actually no special key points for choosing fish food; as long as the goldfish like it, it is fine, but you also cannot always feed only fish food, making their nutritional structure relatively monotonous, which is also not good for their growth.
5. Changing the water
The water for keeping fish is best aged water; the oxygen solubility in this kind of water is high, making it suitable for the survival of fish and other aquatic organisms. Pour water into a bowl, place it in a sunny and well-ventilated place, and leave it for a long time. Then change the water into the fish tank. Note that it is best to change only half or one third at a time, otherwise the goldfish will not adapt to the new environment.
