How Do Butterfly Koi Breed? A Detailed Guide to Breeding Methods
Butterfly koi generally reproduce by laying eggs. Butterfly koi grow very slowly, usually reaching just over 30 cm, and their growth cycle is longer than that of other koi.
How do you keep butterfly koi?
1. Water temperature
The most suitable water temperature for butterfly koi is 25-30 degrees; keeping them as tropical fish can make them healthier and more beautiful.
2. Water quality
Butterfly koi do not have high demands for water quality, but never go a long time without changing the water. It is recommended to change the water once every two weeks, changing at most 1/3 of the water each time. Sudden changes in water temperature and PH value have quite a big impact on this fish, so when changing the water we should add water slowly, and the time should not be too short; it is recommended to keep it within 30 minutes. A water stabilizer can also be used, and the water stabilizer should be added to the new water before the water change.
3. Feeding
Butterfly koi are not picky about feed, and ordinary koi feed is also acceptable. Like other fish, there is usually no need to put in too much feed. Feeding once a day is enough; especially for this fish, eating too much will make it fat, and it may even grow in body without growing its tail.
4. Mixed keeping
If you want to keep butterfly koi together with other fish, you can choose fish whose living habits and temperament are similar to those of butterfly koi; keeping darker-colored fish together with butterfly koi can better improve the ornamental value, and increase the beauty of the room.
