What are the methods and precautions for keeping a cat?
Cats are a relatively common pet in daily life. Although they are aloof, after keeping one for a while, it will get along with you harmoniously and bring you joy, so many people like to keep one. So what are the precautions for keeping a cat?
1. Feed and bathe it frequently
It is best for cats to eat cat food. If there is no cat food, you can choose to soak leftover rice in boiled water, and you can also add some fish, but no salt or oil can be added. It cannot drink raw water, and it cannot be given milk, no matter what kind of milk it is. A cat that has just been brought home must not be bathed in a hurry, because you cannot be sure whether it has any disease. Bathing it at this time makes it very easy for it to become ill. You can choose to wait a while and see whether it is healthy. Once you can confirm that it is very healthy, you can bathe it. The water temperature must not be too cold either; if a cat gets cold, it can easily catch a cold and run a fever, which is very troublesome. If you do not plan to let the cat roam freely and your home is relatively clean, you can go a long time without bathing it, and bathing it once every so often is enough. When bathing, do not directly pour water on the cat's head. The cat's head is the most important part of the cat; just wipe it with a wet towel. The bathing water temperature should be a temperature the human body can accept, and use a body wash specially made for cats. In winter there is no need to bathe it too frequently; the weather is relatively cold and it easily catches a cold.
2. Clean the cat bed frequently
Keeping a cat does not require a special bed; just casually put some pillows and other unused things on the floor. In summer it will find a place to sleep on its own. Of course, if you are willing to let it sleep with you, that is also fine. Buy cat litter for the cat. Cat poop is relatively smelly, and cat litter can play a very good role, and cat litter will not get on the cat's body. When the cat litter gets low, you can buy some more. To teach a cat to use the toilet, you can choose to put its poop in the cat litter and let it go to the toilet on its own.
3. Seal the balcony and install sturdy and stable window screens
When keeping a cat, do not harbor a侥幸 mentality, because owners cannot predict all accidents in advance before they happen. Cats do not have as high an intelligence as imagined. A group of birds flying past or an insect lying on the window is enough to arouse their curiosity and lead to tragedy, so as pet owners, you must do all the protection work well and take preventive measures.
4. Put away dangerous items
Any sharp or fragile items (such as knives and glass products) pose a potential danger to cats, especially underage kittens, which are very curious and lively and active, and are extremely easy to cut themselves. String-like objects (especially yarn, thread ends, etc.), once swallowed by mistake, can lead to unimaginable consequences. In addition, green plants, food, or kitchen and bathroom cleaners that are toxic to cats themselves should also be kept out of the cat's activity area as much as possible, such as coffee, chocolate, lilies, night-blooming jasmine, azaleas, etc. If poisoning occurs, take it to the vet immediately.
