Adult katydids or fertilized eggs can be purchased from farms or markets. The purchased adult katydids are mixed and raised at a male-to-female ratio of 1:1, and the katydids will naturally mate and then lay eggs. Place the purchased fertilized eggs or the eggs laid by the katydids in a flat-bottomed container, put fine sand at the bottom, place the fertilized eggs on top, then cover with a thin layer of sand, and keep the temperature at 25-25°C until they hatch.
Hatching katydids generally takes about 40 days. During the hatching process, water also needs to be sprayed, sprayed thoroughly in one go, and it is best if no water is visible at the bottom. After spraying, they can be hatched at high temperature, and generally after two months hatching can be successful.
