Monstera, also known as split-leaf philodendron, mainly grows in tropical rainforests and is widely cultivated in China. Environmental changes often expose Monstera to disease threats, affecting the healthy growth of the plant. So, how do you treat Monstera diseases?

1. How to Treat Monstera Diseases

Common Monstera diseases include gray leaf spot and rust. When Monstera develops gray leaf spot, spray with 70% thiophanate-methyl 1000x solution or 50% carbendazim 1000x solution. When Monstera develops rust, in the early stages of the disease, spray with 20% triadimefon emulsifiable concentrate 1500x solution or 25% triadimefon wettable powder 1500x solution, spraying continuously 3~4 times for results.

2. Why Are Monstera Leaves Turning Yellow?

1. Soil compaction

Monstera is suited to growing in soil with good permeability. If the soil used is unsuitable, or if the potting soil becomes compacted, it will affect air and drainage performance. In such an environment, the plant's roots find it hard to breathe normally, and water is difficult to drain away, which causes yellow leaves. Therefore, you should loosen the soil or replace it with new potting soil.

2. Improper watering

It is suited to growing in moist places, but do not water too much during care; too much water will cause the roots to rot and will turn the leaves yellow. Conversely, do not water too little either; long-term lack of water will cause poor growth and also yellow leaves. Water reasonably, and do not water when the soil is not dry.

3. Adjust the temperature

The plant is very afraid of cold, and indoor temperatures cannot be too low. If the temperature of the growing environment is below 5°C, the plant will suffer cold damage, which will also cause the leaves to turn yellow. It needs to be moved to a warm spot as soon as possible, and the temperature adjusted to around 10°C.

4. Lack of nutrients

Monstera needs proper fertilization during its growth period. If it is not fertilized for a long time, its leaves will struggle to form chlorophyll, which causes yellow leaves. Apply some fertilizer as soon as possible; an appropriate amount of alum fertilizer water can be applied.
