Pigs are a common kind of domestic livestock in life, and almost every household raises them. When people mention Tuzhu, many will think of Tuzhu No. 1. So who is the founder of Tuzhu No. 1?

1. Who is the founder of Tuzhu No. 1?

The founder of Tuzhu No. 1 is Chen Sheng. He was born in a small mountain village in Zhanjiang, Guangdong. He was admitted to Peking University through the college entrance examination. After graduation, dissatisfied with life in the system, he quit his job to set up a street stall, raise chickens, and raise pigs. Today he is the founder of Tiandi No. 1 and No. 1 Tuzhu, with a net worth of more than 10 billion yuan, and is called the “Pork King” by netizens.

2. Why is Chen Sheng the founder of Tuzhu No. 1?

Chen Sheng was born into a rural family in Guanhu Village, Suixi County, Zhanjiang, Guangdong. In 1980, Chen Sheng received an admission notice from the School of Economics of Peking University. He was about to go to Beijing, the capital, for university, which was explosive news for the local countryside.

In 1984, Chen Sheng graduated from Peking University and was assigned to the General Office of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee as a civil servant. Two years later, he was transferred back to the Zhanjiang Municipal Party Committee Office. What seemed like a smooth iron rice bowl, Chen Sheng could no longer sit still for! 9 As the wave of going into business in the 1990s rapidly heated up, Chen Sheng decided to resign from being a civil servant and go into business.

After resigning, Chen Sheng was determined to start with a small business! He set up a street stall selling vegetables! In the summer of 1991, Chen Sheng contracted more than 100 mu of vegetable land and began growing vegetables for northward transport. He heard that an old farmer in Lianjiang, Guangdong, grew vegetables with high yields and high prices, so he traveled dozens of kilometers specifically to ask for advice. In less than a year of selling vegetables, he earned 600,000 to 700,000 yuan.

Later, Chen Sheng also sold baijiu, sold houses, and sold beverages, and his business went smoothly! When he first sold baijiu, he directly purchased bulk rice wine from farmers, and the production capacity unexpectedly reached several times that of a factory with an investment of 50 million yuan! Then he turned finished liquor into toll processing, renting factory buildings and facilities. Because his products quickly entered and occupied the market, he later had his own factory and completed the accumulation of initial capital.

At that time, the treatment of civil servants was far from as good as it is now. Chen Sheng said, “At that time, several of my friends and I all graduated from famous schools, but our income in government agencies was very low. Our family never even closed the door when sleeping. Why? Because there was nothing worth others thinking about, and nothing valuable to take. We were so poor that there was no other way, so we had to go into business and fight.”

When Chen Sheng’s career was in full swing, he chose to venture into broader fields! In January 1997, then Premier of the State Council Li Peng visited Zhanjiang for inspection and specifically asked to drink Shanxi aged vinegar, along with a bottle of large Sprite. At the banquet, mixing Sprite with aged vinegar became popular in Guangdong and was even named “Li Peng No. 1”.

Chen Sheng, who was in the beverage business, called over a waiter and took a sip of “Li Peng No. 1”. The taste was not bad, and he felt there was great potential! Chen Sheng researched for a month and a half and finally produced a vinegar beverage, naming it “Tiandi No. 1”!

On July 2, 1997, Tiandi No. 1 was officially put into production. As soon as it was launched, demand exceeded supply. Positioned as a mealtime beverage, its concept of advocating healthy accompanying drinks was widely praised. Although there was a slight problem with the taste, and production capacity was limited at 500 bottles per hour, Chen Sheng said that Tiandi No. 1 achieved profitability in three months.

On September 12, 2002, Guangdong Tiandi No. 1 Beverage Co., Ltd. was officially established, and Chen Sheng continued to deepen his work in the vinegar beverage field. Today, after 20 years of development, Tiandi No. 1 has become the largest vinegar beverage manufacturer in the country and a leader in the vinegar beverage industry. It currently has 45 national patents, including 9 invention patents, 16 utility model patents, and 20 design patents; its market sales and brand reputation stand out among nearly 200 vinegar beverage brands nationwide!

On August 20, 2015, Chen Sheng struck the opening bell, and Tiandi No. 1 was officially listed on the New Third Board! Two months after Tiandi No. 1 entered the capital market, the company’s financial report showed that its net profits in 2013, 2014, and 2015 were 314 million, 253 million, and 442 million yuan respectively, with very impressive performance. Chen Sheng’s personal wealth exceeded 10 billion yuan, making him the second richest on the current New Third Board!

The two banks of the Pearl River have cultivated multiple beverage brands renowned nationwide, including Jianlibao, Pearl River Beer, and Wanglaoji…… “Pearl River water” has always been the pride of Guangdong people. Now, when people mention “Pearl River water”, they will naturally think of another rising national brand, and that is the vinegar beverage——Tiandi No. 1.
