A Detailed Guide to the Breeding Methods and Key Technical Points for Black Angelfish
The black angelfish, also known as the angelfish, has a gentle temperament and relatively low demands on water quality, and with its beautiful appearance it is loved by many fishkeeping enthusiasts. So what are the breeding methods for black angelfish?
1. Water
1. Water change frequency: increase the volume of water changed, preferably smaller amounts changed more often; you can set it at once every three days, 30% each time; the purpose is to stimulate the fish's metabolic function.
2. Water temperature: avoid high temperatures or keeping them at high temperatures; generally keeping it at 25-26°C is best, as high temperatures are unfavorable for both breeding and the lifespan of broodstock.
3. Water quality: hardness (gH): 3-6dGH, pH: 6.5-7.0.
2. Pay attention to disease and pest prevention
Once the black angelfish falls ill, it is not easy to treat, mainly because it does not respond well to medication, so prevention should be the priority. The biggest diseases of angelfish are internal parasites and enteritis. After new fish have settled, first feed medicated food to expel parasites: the first time at 7-10 days after settling, then once every two months, feeding for three consecutive days each time, once a day is enough. To prevent enteritis, also use medicated food, once a month, for two days each time. Small doses of medication will not affect breeding.
3. Feeding
The amount of food fed should be determined according to the size and number of the fish. For household keeping of black angelfish, generally only 1-2 feedings per day are needed, and the amount fed should be eaten within 5-10 minutes. When keeping black angelfish in large quantities, 2-3 feedings per day are needed; for broodstock during the breeding period, generally 3-4 feedings per day. Because the black angelfish is relatively small in size and has a limited appetite, each feeding should be about 70-80% full, and increasing the number of feedings can promote rapid growth.
Although the black angelfish has a gentle temperament, it is best to avoid keeping it mixed with some rather aggressive fish, so as not to affect the normal growth of the black angelfish.
