White pigeons are gentle and intelligent, and more and more people now like to keep a white pigeon as a pet at home, while others like to go to parks to feed white pigeons. So do you know what white pigeons like to eat?

1. What do white pigeons like to eat?

White pigeons like to eat grains and legumes. Corn, snow peas, mung beans, sorghum, and wheat are all foods that white pigeons like to eat.

2. How are white pigeons fed?

1. Staple food: Pigeon feed is mainly based on coarse grains, and the more commonly used ones include wheat, buckwheat, sorghum, corn, peas, mung beans, hemp seeds, and so on. When feeding, at least two kinds of feed should be selected and mixed. For example, normally 3 parts wheat, corn, and sorghum combined, and 1 part peas; during training, change it to 3 parts wheat, corn, and sorghum combined, 1 part peas, and 1 part hemp seeds.

2. Supplementary food: In addition to coarse grains, green feed such as leafy greens, cabbage, and wheat seedlings, as well as mineral feed, can also be provided. The ratio of mineral feed is: 3 parts yellow clay and 3 parts yellow sand, 2 parts slaked lime, 1 part salt, 0.5 part shell powder or eggshell powder, and 0.5 part charcoal. After crushing, add water, mix, and roll into balls to dry in the sun. When feeding, break the balls into pieces and place them inside the pigeon loft.

3. Feeding time: Feed twice a day, once at around 7 a.m. and once at around 4:30 p.m. The morning feeding amount accounts for 1/3 of the daily ration, and the afternoon feeding amount accounts for 2/3 of the daily ration. The daily feed amount for each adult pigeon is about 50 grams, and it can be appropriately increased a little during training. The feed should be given after the pigeon returns to the loft, so that it forms a conditioned reflex that there is food when it returns to the loft, which is helpful for homing.

4. Pigeon loft: The pigeon loft should be built in a sunny, dry, and ventilated place. There are many styles for building pigeon lofts. The most important thing is to look at the number of pigeons you plan to raise and the size of the site where the pigeon loft will be built. There are also many pigeon lofts available for purchase on the market now. If it is not for professional large-scale breeding, buying one directly will be more suitable

Pigeons are relatively cleanliness-loving birds, so attention should be paid to the cleanliness and hygiene of the pigeons. In summer and autumn, they should be given a water bath twice a week.
