2019 Latest Scorpion Price Market and Breeding Technology Explained
Scorpions have high medicinal and edible value. Since the mid-1980s, in addition to meeting the raw material demand of traditional Chinese medicine, a large number of whole scorpion products have been consumed as food and health tonics. So, how is the latest scorpion price market in 2019? What is its breeding technology?
I. How is the latest scorpion price market in 2019?
Recently, scorpion supply has been selling normally and prices have remained stable. At present, the price of whole scorpion in clear-water processed goods is between 2100-2200 yuan, and the price of salt-water processed goods is between 1000-1100 yuan. The price is also related to place of origin, quality, specifications, etc., and the specific price at the time of transaction shall prevail.
II. What is the scorpion breeding technology?
1. Build the breeding site
Scorpions fear strong light and prefer darkness. The scorpion farm should be built in a place sheltered from the wind and facing the sun, with a large lighting surface, good drainage, and a clean and quiet environment. At the same time, avoid places where highly toxic pesticides may be applied, and never raise scorpions in places where natural enemies such as poultry, birds, geckos, lizards, frogs, and mice appear. There are many ways to breed scorpions. For small-scale operations there are basin culture, jar culture, and box culture; for large-scale operations there are pond culture, house culture, and honeycomb-style breeding. Regardless of the breeding method, the basic principle is to simulate the scorpion's natural living environment and create comfortable living conditions for the scorpions.
2. Seed selection
Select scorpions that are strong, large, and active as breeding scorpions. For each sq m, raise 3000 scorpions of instars 2-3, 1500 scorpions of instars 4-5, 800 scorpions of instar 6, and 600 breeding scorpions. Place adobe bricks in the scorpion nest, with gaps to allow the scorpions to inhabit and reproduce.
3. Feeding
Artificially raising earthworms is the main source of scorpion feed. After they have reproduced to a certain number, dig them out regularly, first scald them to death with boiling water, chop them up, and place them on a feeding tray to feed the scorpions. The amount fed each time should not be too much, so as to avoid the leftovers rotting and deteriorating. Yellow mealworms and ground beetles can also be artificially bred. During the scorpion's growing period, they can be fed once every 3 days. Although scorpions can go several days without hunger after eating once, they do not become hungry on the same day or feed at the same time, so it is best to insist on feeding every day. The amount of feed should be moderate, with a slight surplus observed the next day being appropriate.
4. Reproduction
Artificially raised scorpions generally need only 10-12 months to reach sexual maturity. The ratio of male to female scorpions is preferably 1:3. Scorpions are ovoviviparous animals. The fertilized eggs complete embryonic development in the mother's body after about 40 days, and then the young scorpions are born. Because scorpions are poikilothermic animals and cannot maintain their own body temperature, heating must be provided during artificial breeding. The mother scorpion gives birth to all her young at once, with an average of 30 per litter.
With the progress and development of science, the medicinal value of scorpions has been further developed, and the use value of scorpions has been further expanded, so the market demand for scorpions is gradually increasing. But at present there are not many friends who specialize in breeding scorpions, while market demand continues to rise, which has led to an imbalance between supply and demand. Therefore, the prospects for scorpion breeding at present are still quite good.
