Notopterygium Seed Latest Prices and Detailed Planting Methods
Notopterygium is also known as Huqiang Envoy, Huwang Envoy, Tuifeng Envoy, etc. It is a perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Notopterygium in the Apiaceae family, distributed in Shaanxi, Sichuan, Gansu, Qinghai, Tibet and other places in China. Its rhizome is used as medicine and has the effects of relieving the exterior and dispersing cold, and dispelling wind and relieving pain. Below let us take a look together at Notopterygium seed prices and planting methods!
How much is Notopterygium seed per jin?
The price of Notopterygium seeds is about 40-60 yuan per jin, but prices vary greatly depending on seed quality, variety, place of origin and market. Notopterygium prefers a cool and humid climate, is cold-tolerant, slightly shade-tolerant, and is suitable for cultivation in deep, loose, well-drained sandy loam rich in humus. It is not suitable for planting in low-lying wet areas. In production, it can be propagated by seed or by rhizome.
Sowing Methods for Notopterygium
1. Seed treatment: Notopterygium seeds, like ginseng seeds, have post-embryonic maturation. After the newly harvested seeds are dried, store them dry in a low-temperature place or refrigerator until May-June of the following year, then take them out for moist sand storage, and store them in a pit in a cool outdoor place until early spring of the next year in March, when they are taken out for sowing.
2. Sowing methods: Notopterygium can be direct-seeded in the field or transplanted after seedling raising.
① Field direct sowing: Sow in early spring in March. Open holes at a spacing of 50×40 cm and about 6 cm deep, sow more than 10 seeds per hole, use 0.5 kg of seed per mu, cover with compost or wood ash 0.6-1 cm thick, keep moist, and seedlings emerge in April.
② Seedling raising and transplanting: Sow in early spring in March. On a prepared seedbed, open shallow furrows at a row spacing of 10 cm for drilling, cover with 0.5-1 cm of soil, and seedlings emerge in April. After emergence, strengthen management, and transplant when the seedlings are about 10 cm tall. Transplanting should be done on cloudy and rainy days.
Planting Methods for Notopterygium
1. Land preparation and fertilization: For planting Notopterygium, choose a field with high terrain and good drainage, and cultivate carefully. Apply 3000 kg of farmyard manure, 20 kg of urea, and 50 kg of phosphate and potassium fertilizer per mu, then wait to sow or transplant rhizomes.
2. Cultivation and weeding: After the Notopterygium seedlings are fully emerged, pay attention to cultivation and weeding. Water to preserve soil moisture in dry weather, and drain promptly in rainy weather.
3. Reasonable fertilization: Apply topdressing once to Notopterygium around the Beginning of Autumn, applying 10 kg of urea and 10 kg of monopotassium phosphate per mu. After clearing the field in winter, spread a layer of farmyard manure.
4. Flower removal and bud removal: After Notopterygium buds, except for plants retained for seed, the flower buds should be removed to prevent nutrient consumption.
5. Pest and disease control: Notopterygium has relatively few diseases. If found, control them by conventional methods. The main pest is the yellow swallowtail butterfly larvae biting and eating leaves. For control, use pyrethroid pesticides to kill them, and use phoxim to kill underground pests.
6. Harvesting and processing: Notopterygium is generally harvested in autumn 2-3 years after sowing, after the aboveground stems and leaves wither. Remove the reed head and soil from the dug-out underground rhizome of Notopterygium, dry it in the sun or by artificial drying, and it can be sold as medicine. The yield per mu is about 300 kg.
