Before growing flowers, scald the soil, and bugs and germs will all die off, so roots will never rot again
Disinfect by baking in the sun
If you want to disinfect soil for flowers, the simplest method is to put it under the sun to bake, especially soil dug up from the wild, which is full of little bugs and must be disinfected before use.
Put the soil in a place with direct sunlight and spread it out in a thin layer, and bake it for about 1 week or more, or put the soil in a plastic bag, seal it, and put it under the sun to bake; either way can achieve the goal of sterilizing and killing insect eggs.
Disinfect with high temperature
1. Right now, as winter and spring alternate, the temperature in many places is not very high, and the sun is not very strong either, so you have to use artificial methods to disinfect. Pour boiling water directly onto the soil until the entire soil is thoroughly soaked, and pour it several times. After that, pour out the excess water, let the soil dry, and it can kill insect eggs and bacteria.
2. If you have a discarded iron wok at home, that's even better. Put the soil in the discarded iron wok, then place it on the gas stove and keep heating and stirring it, using the high temperature to kill insect eggs and pathogens in the soil. After about half an hour, let the soil dry naturally, and then it can be used directly!
Disinfect with chemicals
If you have carbendazim or sulfur powder or the like at home, that's even better. Put the soil in a foam box, add a layer of soil, then evenly sprinkle a layer of the chemical, then continue adding soil and chemical, operating just like making sandwich compost.
After the foam box is filled, seal it with a plastic bag or a lid. After about 7-10 days, open the lid or plastic bag, stir it thoroughly to let it ventilate, and basically it can be used directly for growing flowers.
Bury some chemical to disinfect
Besides mixing in some carbendazim to compost the soil, there is another simple method: buy a systemic chemical and bury it in the flower pot, so that when you water, the chemical will dissolve with the water, and the insect eggs and pathogens in the soil will be killed.
Spread some plant ash or cigarette ash on the pot surface to disinfect
If you find little bugs in the potting soil, you can also directly spread a thin layer of collected plant ash, cigarette ash, etc. on the pot surface. This can not only prevent little bugs from laying eggs on the soil, but also, when you water, let the ash flow into the flower pot along with the water, thereby killing insect eggs and pathogens in the soil.
