How to grow Indigofera amblyantha seeds? Detailed explanation of the correct sowing method

This is a highly adaptable plant. It can not only tolerate growing in poor soil, but also withstand dry environments. It often grows on hillsides in shrub thickets, in open woodlands, and in rock crevices. In summer it produces purplish-red flowers that are very attractive. Its flowering period is also especially long, making it an excellent ornamental flowering plant and a rare material for greening and landscaping. So, do you know how to grow it?

I. How to sow:

(1) In September to October, the fruit of this plant has already become fully mature. At this time, we can collect fully mature pods, then place them in a flat place to dry in the sun. After the pod skins have dried, the seeds will fall out on their own, and then we can collect the seeds. Gather the seeds together, pick out and discard the debris inside, then put the seeds in woven bags and store them in a dry place.

(2) Prepare a seedbed for raising seedlings. Generally, sandy soil is chosen as the growing medium. The seedbed should be selected in a relatively flat area, and there are no specific requirements for the bed's orientation; whether north-south or west-east is fine. A relatively gentle sunny slope can also be used as a seedbed. The bed should be about 1 to 1.2 m wide and 0.15 to 0.2 m high. The length of the bed is determined by the ground conditions, generally 20 to 50 cm. After preparing it, spread farmyard livestock and poultry manure on the surface of the bed, about 500 kg of fertilizer per 100 sq m, then use a rake to turn the bed 15 to 20 cm deep, so that the soil and fertilizer can fully merge.

(3) One week before sowing, put the seeds into the bottom of a container, then pour in about 10 times the volume of the seeds in water, submerging the seeds, with the water temperature reaching 70°C. The next day, pour out the water, then mix the seeds with sand equal to three times the volume of the seeds, place them in woven bags, and store them at a controlled temperature of 20°C to 25°C.

(4) Sowing is generally chosen from April to early May. Use a rake to dig furrows in the seedbed with a spacing of 25 cm and a depth of 4 cm, scatter the seeds into them with a spacing of 3 to 4 cm between seeds, then cover the seeds with a layer of soil 2 to 3 cm thick, and then press the soil firm.

II. Points to note:

(1) The collected seeds should be stored in a dry place.

(2) Before planting, the seeds should first be pre-sprouted.
