The Latest Cultivation Techniques and Methods Tutorial for Pubescent Angelica
Pubescent angelica is one of the traditional Chinese medicinal herbs in China. It has the effects of dispelling wind, removing dampness, dispersing cold and relieving pain. It is often used to treat rheumatic joint pain, wind-cold headache and other conditions, and it is an important herb for treating wind-cold-dampness arthralgia. Clinically, it is also an important raw material for Chinese patent medicines. Its medicinal value is extremely high, so how should pubescent angelica be cultivated? Let us find out together.
1. Site selection and land preparation
Pubescent angelica generally grows in high-cold valleys, hillsides and stream banks at an altitude of 1400-2600 m. It is suited to a cool, humid climate. When planting, it is best to choose a sandy loam soil with deep soil layers, loose texture, good drainage and rich in humus. Before planting, deep-plow the soil 30-35 cm, and with the plowing apply 3000-4000 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer per mu as base fertilizer. Crush it finely, spread it evenly, then rake it fine and level it, make raised beds, and wait for planting.
2. Propagation methods
The propagation methods for pubescent angelica are mainly seed propagation and root-bud propagation. Seed propagation generally uses direct seeding, and can be done by winter sowing or spring sowing. Winter sowing is generally carried out in October, and spring sowing is carried out around Qingming. For the sowing method, drill sowing or hole sowing can be chosen. For drill sowing, open furrows on the bed surface at a row spacing of 50 cm, and evenly scatter the seeds into the furrows; for hole sowing, open holes at a plant and row spacing of 50×30 cm, sow 10-15 seeds per hole, and cover with soil. For root-bud propagation, after autumn, when the aboveground part of the plant begins to wither, dig out the plant together with its roots, cut off the root head with buds, open holes on the bed surface at the plant and row spacing used for hole sowing, place 1-2 root heads in each hole, requiring the buds to stand upright and upward, cover with soil, press lightly, and then water.
3. Field management
After seedlings emerge in spring, field management should be done well. When the seedlings grow to 15 cm, timely intertillage and weeding should be carried out to promote root growth of the seedlings. After weeding, water once with thin manure water. During the seedling stage, weeds should be removed as soon as they appear. When the seedlings grow to 20-30 cm, thinning should be carried out in time, and diseased and weak seedlings should be removed. To make pubescent angelica grow well, fertilization is unavoidable. In the three seasons of spring, autumn and winter, apply farmyard manure once together with weeding. Winter fertilization should be combined with earthing up to prevent the plants from lodging and help them overwinter safely.
4. Pests and diseases
When pubescent angelica is cultivated artificially, diseases rarely occur. The main harm is from insect pests. Every year in June-July, it is the period when aphids and red spider mites are rampant. They suck the sap of stems and leaves. In the early stage, fenitrothion can be used for control, and in severe cases, dimethoate can be sprayed for control. There is also the yellow swallowtail butterfly, which damages the leaves, flower buds and pedicels of the plant. During the larval period, trichlorfon can be sprayed for control, once every 5-7 days, for 2-3 consecutive times.
