The Latest Control Methods for Common Diseases of Scrophularia ningpoensis
Scrophularia ningpoensis is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb, mostly growing in bamboo forests, beside streams, in thickets and among grasses at altitudes above 1700 m, and it has the effects of clearing heat and cooling blood, nourishing yin and reducing fire, and detoxifying and dissipating masses. At present, Scrophularia ningpoensis is cultivated in all major provinces of China, but during cultivation, diseases can harm its yield and quality. Let's take a look at the control methods for these diseases below.
1. Leaf blight
It mainly harms the leaves. When the disease occurs, purplish-brown spots are scattered on the leaves, which then gradually spread into round or irregular lesions. The center of the lesion is grayish-white, and the edges are raised. Small black dots are scattered on the lesions. In severe cases, multiple lesions merge together and spread to the whole plant, causing the entire plant to wither and die.
Control methods: After harvest, thoroughly remove diseased and residual plants from the field, burn them in a centralized manner or bury them deeply. Before sowing, soak the root buds in Bordeaux mixture, dry them, and then sow. When the disease occurs, promptly remove diseased leaves and spray Bordeaux mixture or carbendazim for control, once a week, for 2-3 consecutive times.
2. Southern blight
Southern blight is one of the common diseases of Scrophularia ningpoensis. The affected site is the base of the stem. When the disease occurs, water-soaked lesions appear at the stem base, which then gradually turn brown and rot, the aboveground parts gradually wither and die, and white silky hyphae grow at the diseased area, along with the production of sclerotia.
Control methods: Choose high, dry terrain for planting and rotate with gramineous crops. Before planting, soak the root buds in quintozene for 5 minutes, then dry them and plant. Remove diseased plants promptly when found, and apply lime powder into the diseased holes or at the stem base of the plants to prevent the disease from spreading.
3. Ring rot
The affected site of ring rot is the leaves. In the early stage of the disease, small chlorotic spots appear on the leaves and gradually expand into round lesions. The color quickly turns brown or purplish-brown, the center of the lesion is grayish-white, and concentric rings are visible in the center, with small black dots on them.
Control methods: Clean up diseased and residual plants, strengthen field management, plant at a reasonable density, and pay attention to ventilation and air permeability. In the early stage of the disease, spray Bordeaux mixture or carbendazim for control, once every 7-10 days, for 2-3 consecutive times.
4. Lily purple spot disease
It mainly harms the leaves. In the early stage of the disease, oval or diamond-shaped yellowish-brown lesions appear on the leaves. In environments with higher humidity, the lesions become covered with brown or black powdery mold layers, and in the later stage they cause the leaves to wither and die.
Control methods: During the period when flower stalks emerge, spray low-concentration Bordeaux mixture for control, once a week, for 3-4 consecutive times. When the disease occurs, spray zineb or anilazine for control.
