The latest five-clawed dragon planting technique method tutorial
Five-clawed dragon, also known as fanzai vine and palm-leaf morning glory, is a perennial twining herbaceous plant of the genus Ipomoea in the Convolvulaceae family. Many people mistake it for crape myrtle or Chinese trumpet creeper; they are all vine-type flowers, and all are parasitic on other plants. It can be cultivated as an ornamental plant, and its rhizome can be used as medicine, with the effect of clearing heat and detoxifying. So how should it be planted? Let's find out together.
1. Site selection and land preparation
It prefers warm and humid climate conditions and has strong adaptability to the environment. It is best cultivated in sandy loam or loam with deep soil layers, loose soil texture and good drainage. After selecting the site, plow it multiple times in the autumn of the previous year to allow the soil to fully weather and mature, then after the thaw in the following spring, apply decomposed organic fertilizer as base fertilizer together with plowing, at 1500-2500 kg per mu. After shaping and raking level, make beds and drainage ditches, and wait for planting.
2. Propagation method
In production, seed propagation is mostly used. In autumn, from September to October, collect mature seeds, remove impurities, store them well, and then sow in April of the following year. Use the hole sowing method, open holes on the bed surface at a plant and row spacing of 25×35 cm, mix the seeds evenly with plant ash and sow them in, cover with a layer of fine soil, and water. If the temperature is too low, a layer of rice straw or stalks can also be covered to keep warm and moist, so as to facilitate seedling emergence.
3. Field management
When the seedlings emerge, remove the covering grass in time and water appropriately to keep the soil moist, so as to facilitate seedling growth. When the seedlings grow to 10-12 cm, thin and fill in the seedlings in time, leaving 2-3 strong seedlings per hole. When the stems and vines of the plant grow to about 1 m, build supports to let them twine and grow. During this period, it is best to carry out intertillage and weeding, 3-4 times each year. In spring and summer, apply human and livestock manure as topdressing to promote plant growth, and in winter apply barnyard manure, compost or cake fertilizer to help it overwinter.
4. Pest and disease control
The five-clawed dragon has strong environmental adaptability and few pests and diseases. It is mainly harmed by rust disease and powdery mildew, which mainly occur in spring and summer. Both diseases mainly harm the stems and leaves of the plant, and in severe cases can cause the plant to wither and die. When rust disease occurs, triadimefon can be sprayed for control, and for powdery mildew, fungicides such as carbendazim, thiram or chlorothalonil can be sprayed for control.
