Lindera aggregata is a plant in the Lauraceae family. Its tuberous roots can be used as medicine, having the effects of promoting the flow of qi and relieving pain, and warming the kidneys and dispelling cold. It is mainly used for chest and abdominal distension and pain, deficiency cold of the bladder, enuresis and frequent urination, and can also treat some respiratory and urinary tract diseases. So how should Lindera aggregata be planted? Let's find out together.

1. Seed Selection and Treatment

Lindera aggregata is propagated by seed. First, select plants that grow well and are free of pests and diseases as the mother plants for seed collection, and collect the fruit around the Beginning of Winter. Remove the outer skin of the fruit, take out the seeds, then remove the deteriorated and underdeveloped seeds, and keep the plump, full seeds for sand storage. During sand storage, keep the sand at a certain humidity and check frequently to avoid it becoming too dry, which would reduce seed vigor and lower the germination rate.

2. Sowing

The best time for sowing is around the Qingming Festival, when the temperature is suitable and rainfall is abundant, which is favorable for seed germination and seedling emergence. Choose a well-drained loam plot with loose, fertile soil as the nursery. Before sowing, plow it several times so the soil is fully weathered. If the soil fertility is poor, apply an appropriate amount of base fertilizer. Use the drill sowing or broadcast sowing method, with a seeding rate of about 5 kg per mu. After sowing, cover with a thin layer of soil, which should not be too thick, then cover with a layer of 3 rice straw to keep warm and retain moisture, so as to promote seedling emergence.

3. Seedling Stage Management

After sowing, set up shade netting according to changes in the climate, so that the young seedlings do not suffer from strong sunlight exposure after emergence, which would cause them to wilt or die. After the seedlings emerge, weed promptly to prevent weeds from competing for nutrients and growing space. Remove weeds whenever you see them, so that there are no weeds in the field. After weeding, apply fertilizer once, and then once every two months thereafter. When autumn arrives, the shade netting can be removed to harden the seedlings. After the rainy season, drain water promptly to avoid root rot. Generally, the seedlings can be transplanted after 1-2 years.

4. Transplanting Management

For the transplanting site, choose a plot with abundant sunlight and loose, fertile soil. As with the nursery site, plow in the autumn and winter of the previous year so that the soil is fully weathered and matured, while clearing weeds and residual plant debris, then level and harrow it. Before transplanting, apply organic fertilizer as base fertilizer to provide sufficient fertility for subsequent plant growth. When transplanting, also pay attention to density to avoid crowding between plants, which makes them prone to pests and diseases. Generally, transplant 2000-4000 plants per mu, depending on the plant growth conditions and soil fertility. After transplanting, firm the soil when filling it in and water thoroughly to settle the roots, so as to ensure survival.
