The ash tree is also called Qinglang wood and Baijing tree. It is a type of arbor and is widely planted in our country. This also means that the environments of all regions in our country basically meet the growing conditions of the ash tree, and the techniques for planting ash trees are also basically mature. So today, the editor here will briefly introduce to everyone the planting process and cultivation methods of the ash tree.

1. Cultivation Environment

The ash tree likes warmth, likes sunlight, tolerates saline-alkali conditions, likes moisture, and likes fertility, and it does not have many requirements for soil. However, it grows better in neutral, fertile, sandy loam soil. After choosing the planting site, plow the soil deeply, clean up the impurities, pests, tree roots, weeds, and so on in the soil, break the soil clods into fine pieces, level the ground, and then it can be planted. Of course, for better management, drainage ditches also need to be opened properly.

2. Seedling Cultivation

Ash trees are generally sown during the period from the end of March to the beginning of April. Before sowing, we need to carry out germination treatment on the ash tree seeds, and there are two types: low-temperature germination and high-temperature germination. After the seeds germinate, open furrows at a row spacing of 10 to 20 cm for drilling, evenly scatter the seeds into the furrows, and then cover them with soil to hide the seeds. During the seed germination period, keep the soil moist. Generally, watering is needed once every two to three days, and the weeds in the field should be cleaned up.

3. Water and Fertilizer Management

After the ash tree is planted, we must pay attention to watering thoroughly, then water again after about four to five days, and then water scientifically according to the growth condition of the ash tree and the rainfall situation later. In order to help the ash tree quickly recover its tree vigor, we should keep the soil moist, and wait until the spring of the second year to water the green-returning water. Secondly, in order to promote the growth of the ash tree, we should scientifically carry out topdressing. In the early stage of the ash tree's growth, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers are mainly used, while in the later stage, they need to be applied together with farmyard manure or organic fertilizer. Finally, it should be noted that when applying chemical fertilizers as topdressing, it is best to water once after topdressing, which can avoid the occurrence of fertilizer damage.

4. Pruning and Shaping

Pruning branches and leaves and organizing the tree shape are an important part of the seedling planting process. Before planting, we need to prune the seedlings in a series of ways, for example, pruning clean some weak-growing root systems, excess branches and leaves, and so on. After the planting survives, in order to promote the growth of the ash tree's main trunk, we will properly prune the ash tree and gradually cultivate secondary branches. After the secondary branches are cultivated, continue cultivating the next level of branches until a complete tree shape is formed. After the ash tree forms a complete tree shape, we still need to continue pruning continuously later, but only to maintain tree vigor and promote the growth of the ash tree.

5. Pest and Disease Control

The main insect pests of the ash tree are the ash buprestid beetle, aphids, and longhorn beetles. Their harm to the growth of the ash tree is relatively great. When no pests have been found, we can spray lime-sulfur mixture for prevention, and after pests occur, it is necessary to use thiophanate-methyl or carbendazim combined with insecticides to kill the pests. The most common diseases are brown spot disease and sooty mold disease, which can be controlled with Bordeaux mixture and insecticides.

That is the end of what the editor wants to share with everyone today. I believe that through reading the above, everyone has gained a general understanding of ash tree planting. I hope it can help all friends who plant ash trees.
