How to do osmanthus cuttings? Latest technical method tutorial
Before planting osmanthus, you should first understand its growth habits. Osmanthus should be planted in a ventilated and well-lit place; it is not tolerant of smoke and dust damage, and waterlogging is prohibited; it is also not cold-tolerant, and prefers warmth and moisture. Osmanthus does not have very strict requirements for soil. Apart from alkaline soil and low-lying land or overly heavy, poorly drained soil, it can generally grow.
The best time for osmanthus cuttings is from mid-May to late June, which is the most suitable period. Some places believe osmanthus cuttings can be done as early as April, but although the degree of lignification of the cuttings at this time is relatively higher, because both the air temperature and soil temperature are relatively low, rooting is difficult, and they are prone to rot and deterioration.
When taking osmanthus cuttings, the cuttings should be selected from the tender shoots sprouted in the current year. The cuttings should be inserted one-half into the soil, with a plant-row spacing of about 6 cm * 10 cm, and about 200 plants per sq m.
