Marigold Pest and Disease Control: Latest Technical Methods Tutorial
Marigolds have relatively few pests and diseases, mainly damping-off, black spot, powdery mildew, stinging caterpillars, scale insects and other pests and diseases. In the control process, the principle of giving priority to prevention, with prevention more important than cure, should be adhered to, and control should be carried out at the right time. Now let us take a look at marigold pest and disease control techniques!
Black Spot
[Symptoms] Black spot mainly attacks leaves, petioles and young shoots. When the leaves are first affected, small purplish-brown to brown spots appear on the upper surface, and after they enlarge they mostly become round or irregular dark brown lesions.
[Control Method] Spray with carbendazim, thiophanate-methyl, daconil or similar chemicals.
Powdery Mildew
[Symptoms] Powdery mildew attacks young leaves, with white powdery material appearing on both sides. Early symptoms are not obvious. 3--5 days after the white powdery layer appears, the leaves become water-soaked, gradually lose green color and turn yellow, and in severe cases the leaves fall off.
[Control Method] Spraying carbendazim or triadimefon during the onset period is sufficient, but Guoguang Yingna has the best effect.
Leaf Blight
[Symptoms] It mostly invades from the leaf tip or leaf margin, initially as small yellow spots, then rapidly spreads inward to form irregular large lesions. On severely affected leaves, the withered area reaches 2/3 of the whole leaf, and the diseased part loses green color, turns yellow, dries brown and falls off.
[Control Method] Integrated control should be adopted when the disease occurs, and fungicides such as carbendazim and thiophanate-methyl should be sprayed.
Stinging Caterpillars
[Damage Symptoms] Mainly the larvae of the yellow stinging caterpillar, brown-edged green stinging caterpillar, beautiful brown stinging caterpillar, mulberry brown stinging caterpillar and flat stinging caterpillar, which feed heavily on leaves in high-temperature seasons.
[Control Method] Once found, immediately spray with 90% trichlorfon crystal at 800 times dilution, or with 2.5% fenvalerate emulsifiable concentrate at 1500 times dilution.
