How to Water a Ping'an Tree? A Detailed Guide to the Latest Watering Methods
The Ping'an tree is also known as Hongtouyu cinnamon, Hongtoushan cinnamon, Fanglanshan cinnamon, large-leaf cinnamon, Taiwan cinnamon, etc. It is native to southern Taiwan, China, and symbolizes peace and safety. Many people like to grow it. During cultivation, attention must be paid to watering it, but how do you water a Ping'an tree? Let's take a look together below!
Growth Habits of the Ping'an Tree
The Ping'an tree likes a warm, humid, and sunny environment. It enjoys light but is also shade-tolerant, and prefers warm, hot places without frost or snow, with plenty of fog and high temperatures. It is not tolerant of drought, waterlogging, severe cold, or dry air. For cultivation, a loose, fertile, well-drained, acidic sandy loam rich in organic matter should be used. Under artificial cultivation conditions, it is best to create a warm, hot, and humid environment for it.
Watering Methods for the Ping'an Tree
1. Watering method: The Ping'an tree likes a humid environment and is not tolerant of drought. Its potting soil should be kept relatively moist. In dry weather, spray water on the leaves. In summer, the leaves should be sprayed once a day, and the indoor relative air humidity should be maintained, preferably above 60 percent. When watering, water once first, then water again after half an hour. This can avoid the appearance of half-watering.
2. Watering cycle: The number of waterings depends on the season. When the surface soil looks slightly dry, it can be watered, about once a week. However, note that when watering the Ping'an tree, it should be watered thoroughly, and do not let water accumulate in the pot, so as to avoid root rot in the Ping'an tree.
Cultivation Methods for the Ping'an Tree
1. Temperature: The Ping'an tree loves a high-temperature and humid environment. The optimal temperature is 22°C to 30°C. When the temperature exceeds 32°C, shade the Ping'an tree and spray water on the leaves to increase humidity and lower temperature, so that it can maintain vigorous growth. In winter, the lowest temperature must not be below 5°C.
2. Watering: The Ping'an tree likes moist soil. Water appropriately every morning and evening. In winter, spray more water and water less. There must be no water accumulation in the pot.
3. Light: The Ping'an tree needs relatively good light, but it is also fairly shade-tolerant. It is suitable for care in a semi-shaded environment. Its light requirement varies with age. If the light is too strong, the leaves are prone to turning yellow and losing their luster, reducing their ornamental value.
4. Fertilization: Fertilize the Ping'an tree once a month. After autumn begins, apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer 2 times in succession. In winter, all forms of topdressing should be stopped to prevent fertilizer damage to the roots.
5. Soil: Small plants should be repotted once a year, and large plants should have their soil changed once every 2 years. During the growing season, loosen the soil once a month. The best time for repotting and changing soil is in spring.
6. Pests and diseases: Aphids are prone to appear on the young leaves and new buds of the Ping'an tree. After scattering plant ash on the plant, rinse it clean with clear water. Spraying chinaberry leaf juice can effectively kill insects. Use a 10% imidacloprid wettable powder 2000-fold solution for spraying and killing.
