What to Do When a Radermachera sinica Drops Its Leaves? Cause Analysis and Solutions
Radermachera sinica is a green plant widely grown indoors in pots. Because of its emerald green color and beautiful leaves, it is very popular with everyone, but sometimes when we care for it improperly, we find that the Radermachera sinica drops its leaves, and in severe cases the leaves basically all fall off, leaving only a dry trunk. Let us take a look together below at what to do when a Radermachera sinica drops its leaves!
Temperature reasons
Radermachera sinica likes warm and hot environments, and its suitable growth temperature is 20°C to 30°C. During the intense heat of midsummer, when the ambient temperature reaches above 30°C, it should be properly shaded with a shed, the environment and leaf surfaces should be sprayed with more water, or it should be moved to a ventilated and cool place with dappled shade to spend the summer. When late autumn arrives, when the ambient temperature drops to around 10°C, it should be promptly moved into a shed or indoors.
Light reasons
Radermachera sinica is a light-loving plant, and it can also tolerate shade slightly; full sun and semi-shade environments are both acceptable. Its seedlings are relatively shade-tolerant, and in summer a shed should be set up for shading. For potted plants, during indoor display they should be placed in front of a window or indoors with sufficient light. If it is placed in a dim indoor area for a long time, it easily causes leaf drop. For household potted plants, during the winter it can be placed in front of a window or in a higher position in front of a balcony, so that it receives as much light as possible.
Water reasons
During cultivation, the soil and the display environment are required to be relatively moist. During the seedling-raising period, the seedbed must be kept moist, and in hot seasons sufficient water must be supplied; in hot seasons, spray the plants with water 2 to 3 times per day. Plants placed outdoors for care in summer and autumn. Plants placed indoors in winter enter a dormant state, and should not be watered too much, to avoid root rot.
Soil reasons
For potted Radermachera sinica, a loose, fertile culture soil that drains and breathes well and is rich in organic matter should be selected. Usually garden soil : leaf mold : decomposed organic fertilizer : river sand = 5:3:1:1 is mixed and prepared. During the growing season, loosen the soil once a month to ensure that its root area is always in a well-aerated state. Generally, for small and medium-sized plants grown as household potted plants, repotting can be done once a year in early April when they are brought out, to meet the soil fertility requirements for their growth throughout the year.
Fertilizer reasons
For potted Radermachera sinica, in addition to requiring the addition of an appropriate amount of decomposed cake fertilizer and 3% multi-element compound fertilizer to the culture soil, topdressing should also be given continuously. During the growing season, a quick-acting liquid fertilizer can be applied once a month, usually decomposed cake fertilizer water can be used. For a small number of household potted plants, or for large potted plants displayed in public places for a long time, a small amount of multi-element slow-release compound fertilizer granules can be buried and applied regularly, or a mixed solution of 0.2% urea plus 0.1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be used for watering.
