What are the key points of the planting method for Dream Fragrance Orchid?
1. Planting time
March to April in spring, October to November in autumn.
2. Choosing a flower pot
In the early stage of planting, it is best to choose an unglazed clay pot that is deep, has a small upper opening, and a large drainage hole. This is especially beneficial for beginners. Beginners cannot judge the watering amount well, and this kind of flower pot has very good breathability and drainage, so using it to grow the plant can increase the chance of keeping it alive. Later, it can be replaced with a porcelain pot or a purple clay pot.
3. Choosing soil
The roots of this plant are fleshy roots, so it is suitable to use sandy loam soil containing humus, which has relatively good drainage. This is very beneficial to the plant's growth.
4. Planting method
Choose a relatively robust seedling with strong growth. First rinse the seedling clean under running clear water, taking care not to damage any part of the plant.
Then fill the bottom 1/3 of the pot with soil, and place the prepared seedling into the pot. Make the pot as large as possible, and do not let its roots come close to the pot wall. Then add 1/3 of the soil, press it gently with your hands, and finally pour in the remaining 1/3 of the soil and gently smooth it with your hands.
The overall soil height reaching slightly above the middle of the flower pot is sufficient. Some crushed stones can be placed at the bottom of the pot, and some larger stones can be placed on the very top, so that the entire pseudobulb can be buried.
After potting is completed, water immediately, and water thoroughly, then place it in a shaded area. In the first month, it can avoid sunlight, and the pot soil only needs to maintain 80% humidity.
