How to propagate the Money Tree (Pachira aquatica) by cuttings? A detailed guide to the method

This is a plant now widely grown in the tropics. When kept at home, you can place it in a spot with light and make sure it gets a few hours of sunlight every day, and it will grow very lush. Some flower lovers want to propagate a pot of their own and enjoy the process of growing it from a sprout to a plant, but they are not clear on how to propagate it. Let's find out!

I. Cuttings

1. We can first pick the potted plant from which we want to take branches. Generally, we choose to cut from the potted plant branches that have already grown for one to two years.

2. After cutting the branches off, you can cut them into sections 10 cm long. To reduce water loss from the cuttings and unnecessary nutrient consumption, we can use sharp scissors to cut off most of the leaves on the cuttings in one go, leaving just some small leaves, or leaving none at all is also fine.

3. Prepare the potting soil. The potting soil should preferably be loose, nutrient-rich soil with good water drainage. We can mix it ourselves, using leaf mold mixed with peat soil, then mixing in one third river sand, and finally adding a little fully decomposed poultry manure as a base fertilizer. If you don't want to mix it yourself, you can directly buy soil suitable for growing plants on the market.

4. After inserting the branches, pour some water to keep the soil moist. During this process, you should also spray water around it from time to time to increase the humidity of the environment.

5. After about a month, the branches will already be able to survive. After that, place it in a suitable environment and care for it carefully. This period is very important; if it is not cared for well, it will be very difficult for it to continue growing.

II. Notes:

If you want to effectively increase the survival rate of the cuttings, you can use branches that have already become somewhat woody for the cuttings.
