How to grow Bamboo Palm in water? A detailed guide to the latest hydroponic method
When we hear the name Bamboo Palm, we can probably all picture what it looks like. The top of the Bamboo Palm looks like a lotus lantern blooming open, and the leaves get bigger and bigger from top to bottom, giving it very high ornamental value. From a distance it looks just like a feather duster. Like other plants, the Bamboo Palm can be grown not only in soil but also in water. So how should the Bamboo Palm be grown in water? Below, Shuanshuai will explain the hydroponic method for Bamboo Palm!
1. Remove the leaves
Before the leaves are removed, the Bamboo Palm cannot be placed in water. So how many leaves do we need to strip off? This depends on the size of the bottle. Any part below the bottle mouth must not have leaves. We cannot use scissors to remove the leaves; instead, we should pull them off. After pulling out the leaves, if you see node after node, that means you pulled them off correctly. Being able to see the yellow stem below is enough. This way the water is less likely to become smelly. To let the roots absorb water quickly, we can cut the base into a slanted opening.
2. The water trick
If conditions allow, you can use purified water for growing it, though the cost will be a bit higher this way. If you use purified water, the Bamboo Palm can basically grow for a period of time even without adding nutrient solution. Right after inserting it, do not change the direction at will, and do not move it at will. Keep it this way for one day. As for changing the water, change it once every two weeks. Do not change the water every day; this is not allowed. If roots have grown out, then you should add water rather than change the water.
3. Position and water depth
The depth of the water is determined by the size of the bottle. Generally, the water depth is about three fifths of the whole bottle. If you are not very sure, it is recommended that you use a transparent vase for growing it, so that you can clearly see the water depth. In summer, if it is grown indoors, it must not be placed at the air outlet of an air conditioner, otherwise the leaves will change color.
The above is the hydroponic method for Bamboo Palm. Note that the Bamboo Palm cannot be grown in water in a dark place, and the water should not be changed too frequently. If you find that the water has become cloudy, that means it is time to change the water. During this period, do not move its position often. Just give it some routine care. Placed in a bedroom or living room, it is very eye-catching. Friends who are interested can grow a pot of Bamboo Palm.
