How to Propagate Aloe Vera? Detailed Guide to the Latest Methods
Aloe vera is something modern people all love very much; it can be both eaten and used, and is a great plant. Many friends who grow aloe vera do not know how aloe vera should be propagated. Propagating aloe vera is actually very simple, and most aloe vera is generally propagated by division. Of course, below we will explain how division propagation should be done, and Shuanshuai will also introduce another method. There are two methods in total. Below, Shuanshuai will introduce the propagation methods of aloe vera to everyone!
1. Division Propagation
Division propagation is the most universal and most commonly used method. This propagation method is very simple and relatively flexible, and can be carried out at any stage of its growth. Division propagation is further divided into three modes. Let's continue reading.
1. Mode One
The first is to directly break the stem off the previous plant, then separate the new plants growing from the base of its roots, and then break them off and plant them in soil, or plant the ones separated afterward into soil.
2. Mode Two
The second is to use a knife to cut apart the aloe vera suckers and the plant, but there is no need to take them out. Leave it placed exactly as it was before, no need to move it. After half a month it will grow its own root system, and once the root system has grown, you can transplant the aloe vera yourself.
3. Mode Three
The third is to directly separate the original plant and then leave it to air-dry in a ventilated place for a few days. Once the cut wound has recovered relatively well, it can be planted. By the way, you can give it a little water, for fear that it may lose too much water while air-drying again.
2. Cutting Propagation
1. The principle of cutting propagation makes use of a characteristic of aloe vera: because the stem of aloe vera and the branches beside it may produce roots below, we only need to break it off from above, and in this way a new root system can be formed.
2. Cutting propagation has relatively high environmental requirements. The grower needs to keep the temperature between 25 degrees and 28 degrees, and then the soil temperature must be two degrees higher than the air temperature. At this temperature it may be two or three degrees higher than the usual room temperature, so this has harsh requirements for the environment, but it is not very difficult to achieve. At this temperature aloe vera will root faster. If the temperature is too low, the roots will not be able to grow normally, and the soil should be on the dry side.
3. For the specific operation, choose during its growing period to cut off a robust leaf, then disinfect the leaf and air-dry the wound. After this step is completed, the leaf can be inserted into the soil for cultivation. The insertion depth is not required to be very deep; as long as the leaf can stand upright without falling over, that is enough.
The above are the propagation methods for aloe vera. Have you all learned them? Actually, both methods are very simple. If you find it troublesome, you can choose the first one. The second one has certain requirements for environmental conditions, so everyone can decide which method to choose according to their own growing environment.
