Succulents have always been a kind of plant that people cultivate, and they are also a profitable project that farmers rather like. At present, China has many succulent cultivation bases, providing a strong purchasing channel for all kinds of succulent lovers. So how should farmers plant these succulents to grow high-quality varieties? Below, let's learn together with the editor about how to grow succulents?

1. Root trimming

Root trimming is an important step for succulents, and it is also an aspect that many farmers have never paid attention to. The root system of succulents is extremely developed, which leads to the presence of many fibrous roots, and farmers may think this is very good because it can absorb more nutrients. In fact, this is not the case. Because the root system is vigorous, its new fine roots grow very quickly, and over time many of the early fine roots will die off, seriously hindering the main root's nutrient absorption. Therefore, in order to grow succulents better, farmers can tidy up their roots. For those with many fine roots, they can be cleaned away, and everyone will find that succulents grow better after root trimming.

2. Environment setup

Ordinary succulents are relatively small, so their resistance to the environment is relatively poor, so building a high-quality growing environment is extremely necessary. The soil at the cultivation base should mainly be soil that drains and breathes well, and the soil should be sterilized before planting. For light, morning and afternoon light is best, and shade treatment should be carried out during the hottest few hours at noon. For temperature, 10°C-30°C is best; in summer, try not to grow them outdoors, as temperature control is difficult. Fertilizer and water should both follow the principle of many times and small amounts, because succulents are relatively small, and this allows them to fully absorb nutrients.

3. Potting treatment

After succulents have been cultivated in the nursery for a period of time, they need to be transplanted into pots for fine management, so that they will grow better later. The size of the pot should be controlled well; generally, a size about 3-5 times the diameter of the seedling is enough. The pot height should be 10-15 cm, the soil thickness should be about 2 cm from the pot rim, and no base fertilizer is needed at the bottom. If the soil in the pot is fairly sticky, a certain amount of sand or small stones can be mixed in to increase soil permeability. The potted distribution throughout the base should be reasonable, so that as many as possible can enjoy longer light.

Succulent cultivation is fairly energy-consuming, especially after farmers transplant them into pots. It is recommended that farmers do not place the pots directly on the ground, but place them about 20 cm above the ground. Potted plants that are too close to the ground will have a lower survival rate later after being off the ground for a long time. For more related content, you can come and consult us.
