How to do rose cutting propagation and seedling raising? Latest technical method tutorial
The rose is one of the most common flowers in China, and has the reputation of “Queen of Flowers”. It is an evergreen shrub flower plant. The rose has extremely high ornamental value, and can also be used to extract essence as a fragrance. It also has medicinal effects such as promoting blood circulation and regulating menstruation, and reducing swelling. As the country of origin of the rose, our country now has a very wide planting area. So when planting roses, how should cutting propagation be done? Let's take a look together with the editor below!
1. Seedbed preparation
First, we should choose soil with a thick, soft, well-aerated layer and normal drainage and irrigation as the seedbed. Control the specifications of the seedbed according to the specific planting situation. Then choose the cutting substrate well. Although roses have strong adaptability to soil and can normally take root in most soils, the survival rate will be affected. So the cutting substrate should be mainly fine sand, then add an appropriate amount of formaldehyde to the fine sand and mix it thoroughly with the fine sand. After about 4 days, it can be put into the seedbed. It should be spread evenly and comprehensively into the seedbed, then lightly pressed and watered once.
2. Cutting preparation
⟦NL>Choose branches about 1 year old with strong growth ability and no wounds as cuttings, preferably just after the flowers have faded. Then spray the branches with pesticides such as chlorothalonil to improve the disease resistance of the cuttings. If there are too many branches, soak them in water for storage. Cut off the upper flowers of the branches to be cut, then cut the branches into cuttings of about 10 cm. Make sure the top cut of the cutting is smooth and neat, and cut the lower end diagonally to form a slanted opening. Avoid rough and uneven cuts to improve the healing ability of the cuttings and prevent infection caused by too late healing.
3. Timely cutting
When cutting, it is best to cut the branches as soon as they are collected, avoiding storage for too long. Before cutting, first make small holes in the cutting seedbed, then place the cuttings into the small holes for cutting. During cutting, the part above the ground should be kept at about 2/3 of the length of the cutting. Then control the planting density well, keeping the plant and row spacing at about 12 cm. After cutting, gently compact the soil to improve the soil's heat preservation capacity. After all cutting is completed, cover with a layer of fine sand, then water appropriately to increase the water content and promote rooting of the cuttings.
4. Post-cutting management
After cutting, the temperature should not be too high. If the temperature is too high, it will cause the cuttings to sprout earlier and lead to cutting failure. The temperature should be controlled at about 24 degrees. If the temperature is too high, then cooling work should be done in time through watering, ventilation, and other tasks. In the early stage after cutting, water about once every other day. After about one month, the cuttings begin to take root, and at this time the water demand increases. They can be watered about once every 4 days, depending on the specific humidity. Keep the soil water content at about 80% and the humidity at about 85%. Then do the weeding work well, but do not disturb the cuttings.
The above is a brief introduction to rose cutting propagation and seedling raising technology. After about one month of cutting, the cuttings can take root, and after about 1 week they can begin to be transplanted. One day before transplanting, water thoroughly to improve the survival rate of transplanting. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and I hope it can help everyone!
