Pothos is a very popular ornamental plant in our country, and one of the plants commonly found in most homes and offices. It has various effects such as absorbing impurities and purifying the air, can improve the environment, and is a plant with very high economic value. Moreover, the growing methods for pothos are actually very simple, though we still need to do a good job with management. So below, the editor has brought you the growing methods for pothos. Let's take a look!

1. Soil selection

Pothos likes to grow in a moist environment, so the soil must have good water retention capacity. But water should not be excessive either, otherwise it is easy to cause root rot and seedling rot, so it must also have strong drainage and irrigation properties. Although pothos is not very strict about soil requirements, if you want to grow pothos with high ornamental value, then you should choose soil with sufficient fertility and strong permeability. Good soil can enhance the growth ability of pothos and improve its ornamental value. So soil selection is very important, and everyone must pay close attention to it.

2. Reasonable watering

We should water reasonably according to changes in season and temperature. When the temperature is lower, because water evaporates relatively slowly, the amount of watering should be appropriately reduced. Reduce the usual watering amount by 3/4 or about half. But even when the temperature rises, you should not water too frequently. Avoid root rot causing the death of the pothos. Then you should appropriately water the aerial roots of the pothos to prevent water from evaporating too quickly and causing the roots to absorb too little water. When watering in winter, pay attention to the water temperature, and do not use cold water, to avoid damaging the roots.

3. Scientific fertilizing

After entering autumn and winter, because the temperature drops sharply, the growth of pothos is inhibited, the growth rate declines, and growth may even stop. So in autumn and winter, pothos does not need much nutrition, and the amount of fertilizer should be reduced. Before the beginning of winter, liquid inorganic fertilizer should be appropriately sprayed, about once every half a month. Then in winter, fertilizing should mainly be foliar fertilizer spraying. The leaves can absorb fertilizer through the stomata, helping the pothos overwinter safely. For foliar fertilizer, inorganic fertilizer must not be used; use a special fertilizer that is easily absorbed.

4. Shaping and pruning

The number of cuttings per pot of pothos should be kept at about 5 plants. A support can be set up to make it easier for the pothos to twine around the plant and grow upward. Then in spring, the pothos should be shaped and pruned. When the stems and vines of the pothos exceed the plant by about 20 cm, cut off about 40 cm of the stem tips of 3 of the plants. After the cut stem tips sprout new buds, then cut off the other stem tips. If freezing damage occurs, then cut half of 1/3 of the stems and vines short. The other half of the stems and vines should be cut off by about 2/3.

The above is a brief introduction to how to grow pothos. Growing pothos is actually very simple. As long as the basic management work is done well, sometimes it can be maintained very well even without fertilizing. That is all for today's introduction.
