How to grow lucky bamboo in soil? A detailed guide to the latest methods
Common soil cultivation of lucky bamboo. Soil cultivation requires soil and also soil treatment. It is more suitable for large-scale propagation of seedlings, or for display in soil after sale. Therefore, soil cultivation is still the main method of growing lucky bamboo. Soil cultivation has advantages and disadvantages; for example, in winter it needs insulation or protected cultivation facilities. High temperatures in summer also require temperature control. Soil cultivation requires attention to several aspects.
1. Temperature
The critical temperature for cold damage is 5 degrees; below 5 degrees, cold damage occurs. From 5 degrees to 10 degrees, it is basically in a wintering state and hardly grows. The best temperature is around 15 degrees to 22 degrees. Above 25 degrees, growth is affected. At 30 degrees, it grows slowly or does not grow. Above 30 degrees, potted plants easily lose water and develop yellow leaves. Therefore, try to move them indoors to cool down and spray water frequently.
2. Humidity
Lucky bamboo has many roots, but they are not all very strong. It cannot tolerate drought or lack of water, but it also cannot tolerate waterlogging. Soil air permeability is not that good, and when there is water, root rot easily occurs. After root rot, the wounds are easily infected by bacteria, fungi, viruses, and the like. When watering, the soil only needs to be slightly moist; just keep 50% soil moisture. In dry winter areas, a little more water can be given in winter.
3. Light
It likes bright light, but direct strong light is not acceptable. It easily loses water and has withered leaves, the plant is damaged, and the soil temperature is indirectly raised, affecting root growth. It can generally be grown indoors, and can also be placed in front of a door, but it is usually placed in a bright spot by a window. It cannot be kept without light or in shade, or the leaf color will become dull and unattractive.
4. Nutrition
Generally, no fertilizer is applied, and lucky bamboo still grows very well. With less fertilizer, it does very well. But applying some fertilizer can make it grow better. It can be fertilized once every one to two months. Apply less fertilizer in summer, and do not apply chemical fertilizer when fertilizing. Only apply a small amount of farmyard manure dissolved in water to avoid excessively high temperatures. At other times, a compound farmyard manure can be applied. In winter, a little more can be applied for insulation.
Soil cultivation of lucky bamboo is a common method. Although it is different from water cultivation, management must also emphasize the management of environmental conditions. In addition, attention should be paid to some diseases and pests, although disease problems generally rarely occur. Nutrition can also assist growth.
