Dianthus has many types and varieties. It is a perennial herbaceous flower and a common flower on the market today. The flower colors are diverse, and it has a cyme inflorescence, so the flowers look very beautiful. This flower usually blooms in summer from May to June. Dianthus originated in the northern regions of our country, and it can now be grown everywhere. It is also grown in the Korean region abroad. How should Dianthus be grown? Let's take a look together.

1. Soil

It requires relatively fertile soil, preferably loose and well aerated, so that after watering it will not become sticky and heavy and prevent the roots from breathing. Some well-drained soil is more suitable for planting, so that water will not accumulate, and there is no fear of heavy rain, making it easy to dig trenches for drainage. Calcareous soil is suitable for planting, and it adapts to alkaline soil. Sandy loam is the most suitable soil, as it both retains water and fertilizer and is loose and breathable. It commonly grows on hillsides.

2. Temperature

It is generally cold-resistant and likes cool environments, but it is not tolerant of high temperatures. In the midsummer heat with blazing sun and strong light, growth is affected, so it must be moved back indoors for cultivation, or a shade net must be set up outdoors, and then water should be sprayed frequently; perhaps it can get through without being harmed. But Dianthus is drought-tolerant, so it does not need too much watering. After summer drought, as long as high temperatures are avoided, it can still grow. It generally likes temperatures between 15 and 20 degrees, and can still grow within 30 degrees; above that it is a bit risky.

3. Light

It is a light-loving flower and requires enough light to bloom, but it cannot stand strong light. Under strong light and high temperature, it easily withers. It can also grow in a semi-shaded environment, and indoors near a window it can grow, as long as it can receive light and it is not strong, scorching sunlight, which is unfavorable for growth. It generally requires ventilation and breathability and cannot be stuffy and hot. In this way it can grow a bit better.

4. Humidity

Water is an important component. Dianthus likes humid environments, so the soil moisture should be kept at around 60%, because when humidity is too high, if the outside temperature is high, it easily becomes stuffy and hot. Dianthus is relatively drought-tolerant, and a little less water will not affect it. It can be decided according to the season: in winter it can be watered more, and in summer less each time but more frequently. Spring has a lot of light rain, so it does not need too much watering. Air humidity must be kept above 65%. Keep the branches and leaves from drying out.

Dianthus cultivation mainly means providing the best growing conditions according to its growth characteristics, as well as handling various adjustments when responding to the external environment. The main thing is to ensure that it always maintains the best growth state and environmental conditions.
