Latest Key Technical Points for Lilac Cultivation and Management
Lilac is the common lilac, an ornamental flowering plant and a shrub, and lilac can also be seen in some garden landscapes. Lilac is a flower native to China and is also a precious flower. Many friends want to grow lilac but do not know how to cultivate it, and it only survives, with problems such as poor growth, and they also do not know how to care for it. So today, in fact, we are going to introduce some cultivation and care methods for lilac.
1. Propagation and Seedling Raising
Lilac is mainly propagated for seedlings by sowing and cuttings. After the seeds are harvested, they are stored in stratification and sown in the spring of the following year. For cuttings, it is best to take cuttings in summer, as they root easily in summer. For sowing, select seeds by water, sow plump and healthy seeds, and cultivate strong seedlings. For cuttings, select robust one-year-old branches, keep them moist during rooting, and transplant after the roots are well developed.
2. Transplanting Method
Seedlings raised by sowing must also eventually be transplanted, and seedlings raised by cuttings must also be transplanted. Transplanting should be done in spring, with soil around the roots, and some branches and leaves should be pruned to reduce evaporation. The planting density is a plant spacing of 2 m. If transplanting in a courtyard, it is generally planted as a single specimen. Dig a planting hole 50 cm deep and 70 cm wide. Apply 2 jin of farmyard manure and 1 jin of bone meal per plant. After mixing with soil, cover once with soil that has not been mixed with fertilizer, then plant, gradually covering with soil.
3. Management After Planting
Water immediately after planting, and the settling water should be watered thoroughly. Then water for several days afterward, but do not water too much. Small saplings about 1 m tall survive very quickly. If many are planted, shade netting can be set up. If only a few are planted, losses are not great, and spring sunlight is not strong, so they generally survive easily. If there are consecutive rainy days, rooting may be slower, and attention should be paid to drainage.
4. Other Management
Shortly after planting, do not loosen the soil after watering, but after planting for a long time, too much watering easily causes soil compaction, so the soil must be loosened after every watering to let the roots breathe and speed up root growth. In dry periods, water about once a week. In winter, irrigate to prevent freezing damage. Lilac should be planted in a sunny, moist place that does not accumulate water. It needs fertile sandy loam and should not be cultivated in a shady environment.
Lilac is mainly propagated by sowing and cuttings. The seedling raising time is different, and planting requires attention to environmental conditions and the planting process. The main content is management after planting and long-term care.
