Why are the leaves of the aromatic wood turning yellow? An analysis of the latest causes
Aromatic wood is a small shrub, an ornamental plant and also a medicinal plant, growing in forests and shrublands on calcareous hillsides. In China it is mainly found in the southwestern region. Nowadays it is widely cultivated for ornament, and because it is a small shrub, many are grown in pots. A problem that often appears during cultivation is yellowing leaves. When this happens, many people do not know what to do, so let us take a look now!
1. Too much water
When growing it, soil moisture needs to be controlled, and when grown indoors it must be controlled even more. So if it is watered too much, waterlogging will occur, the soil will naturally lack oxygen, the roots cannot breathe, and they cannot absorb either. But if it is not watered, or watered too little, and lacks water, yellowing of the leaves will likewise occur. It is best to water by the principle of watering when dry and letting it dry between waterings. Water promptly after the soil has dried out completely; roughly once or twice a week is enough.
2. Poor soil
Research has found that aromatic wood is suited to growing in acidic soil, and can also grow in neutral soil, but grows poorly in alkaline soil. If the soil is also compacted, then the plant will grow poorly and easily develop yellow leaves. It is best to replace the soil and add river sand, and to use it after testing the soil's acidity and alkalinity. Of course, if you are afraid of damaging the roots, you can simply add a few drops of vinegar; adding rice-washing water is equally effective. Loosen the soil regularly.
3. Malnutrition
The nutrients in the soil are limited, and natural adjustment takes a long time. Especially in pots, where the soil is limited, nutrients are even more restricted. It is best to fertilize frequently to meet the nutritional needs, and then the leaf color will return to normal. But there is also the case of using too much chemical fertilizer, causing fertilizer burn and dried-up leaves. So it is best to fertilize roughly once every one to two months, applying fertilizer in appropriate amounts.
4. Light regulation
Provide light according to the plant's needs. Aromatic wood is sun-loving and must receive eight hours of light every day. With insufficient light, photosynthesis is poor and the leaves will turn yellow. Long periods of weak light will also cause poor growth. But direct strong light is also no good. It will directly scorch the leaves, and before long they turn yellow. It can be given more light. When the light is strong, move it back indoors.
Yellowing leaves on aromatic wood are mostly caused by improper environment and care. At this point you only need to make adjustments and respond accordingly, and the problem of yellowing leaves can be improved.
