Michelia maudiae, also called Michelia maudiae (glossy-leaved white magnolia), is a tree flower, an evergreen ornamental plant with good economic value. Michelia maudiae is now mainly distributed in the southern and southwestern regions. What are the methods for cultivating Michelia maudiae, which propagation method to use, and the management methods - these are all part of cultivation. Now let us learn about cultivation together.

1. Site selection and land preparation

Choose a site with good sunlight conditions, intact soil structure, good drainage, convenient irrigation, and a water source nearby. The soil cultivation layer should be deep. Granular-structured soil rich in organic matter is most suitable. Deep-plow the land, do one fine tilling, and one rotary tilling. Apply fertilizer during deep plowing, 4,000 jin of barnyard manure per mu. For soil disinfection, spray with chlorothalonil. Make a seedbed 20 cm high, 1.2 m wide, with 25 cm furrows.

2. Seed treatment

The seeds can be sown right after harvest. After harvesting, dry the seeds in a cool, shaded place, then soak the seeds in a 0.5% potassium permanganate solution. Soaking for 2 hours is enough for disinfection. Then soak them in warm water for a day and a night. Let the seeds absorb enough water, remove them and drain them, dry them in a cool, shaded place, and then mix the seeds with calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer.

3. Sowing method

Sow in rows, with a spacing of 20 cm, sowing 2 cm below the soil surface, covering with peat soil, a shallow cover, just enough that the seeds cannot be seen. Cover with grass material to retain moisture and warmth, keep the soil from crusting, and cover until no soil is visible. After that, place drugs around the area to prevent animal damage. Drain in rainy weather, spray water on sunny days.

4. Seedling emergence management

After most seedlings have emerged, remove the grass on cloudy days, spray with 0.5% Bordeaux mixture, at an interval of three days, spraying three times. This avoids disease. The seedlings grow relatively slowly; just do a good job of topdressing, loosening the soil, and weeding. Fertilize once every half month, using dissolved compound fertilizer. After summer begins, transplant seedlings from places where they are too densely grown to other empty places. Pay attention to preventing and controlling root rot, white grubs, and scale insect damage. In June, during vigorous growth, for drought resistance and cooling, prepare shade nets, irrigate with running water, and use 0.2% urea to irrigate the roots.

The cultivation of Michelia maudiae is the process above. Overall, it is relatively easy to carry out. However, management work is quite important, and it also determines the later growth of the seedlings.
