When growing succulents, if care is improper, white bugs will appear on the succulents. These bugs are generally mealybugs, which suck the sap from the leaves and stems of succulents, causing pest damage or plant death, and the harm is relatively great. So how should you deal with white bugs on succulents? Let's take a look.

1. Change the soil

Generally speaking, if the white bugs growing on succulents can be seen with the naked eye, then they are mealybugs. Usually it is best to change the soil, remove the soil containing large numbers of mealybugs, and then wash the bugs off the leaves with water. Before changing the soil, disinfect the new pot once with a potassium permanganate solution, and loosen the soil in time.

2. Kill bugs with alcohol

A relatively common method for killing mealybugs is to use alcohol, because alcohol can absorb the water from proteins in bacteria, causing the proteins inside the white bugs' bodies to denature, thereby destroying the bugs' internal body structure and effectively killing them. So dilute a small amount of alcohol solution, then pour it along the affected areas, and place the plant in a ventilated spot. Generally do this once every 3-5 days, and after several times the mealybugs can be completely eliminated.

3. Kill bugs by soaking the pot

When white bugs appear on succulents, you can remove them by soaking the pot. First gently pull the succulent plant out of the potting soil, soak the whole thing in water so that the surface is completely submerged. Then let it sit for about ten minutes, repot it, and place it in a ventilated, sunny spot to eliminate the white bugs.

4. Other methods

Vinegar can also kill white bugs on succulents, because vinegar can inhibit the reproductive ability of white bugs and also destroy their internal structure. You can dilute household vinegar, rinse off the white bugs with clean water, then spray the vinegar solution, 2-3 times, and they can be completely killed in a week. Garlic can also be used to kill bugs: crush garlic, add clean water and soak for 24 hours, then pour on the upper clear liquid, which can also kill white bugs. Sichuan pepper can do this too: boil a small amount of Sichuan pepper in water, simmer for 2-3 hours, then add a small amount of soapy water, stir thoroughly, and spray the plant. Likewise once every 2-3 days, and after a week the white bugs can be killed.
