Care Methods and Management Tips After Gloxinia Blooms

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Because this flower has such brilliant, eye-catching colors, many people like to keep one on their desk or at home, and they feel happy when it blooms. But then a new question arises: what should we do with it after it blooms? There are two ways, as follows!

I. Cutting back:

1. Why cut it back? If you don't cut it back after blooming, the plant will just shoot upward vigorously, and it may lean to one side because it is too tall or too heavy, completely losing its beauty. However, after cutting back, the cut part of the plant will regrow, forming another lively plant.

2. If you want to cut back this plant, note that whether it is the part left behind or the part cut off, it must have sprouted buds. Never cut parts that have not sprouted buds. Just keep one bud per plant.

3. Prepare containers according to the number of plants you cut, fill the containers with clean perlite, then poke a hole in the middle of the perlite, carefully insert the plant's stem into it, and press it firm with the surrounding perlite.

4. Then water the perlite. Be sure not to get water on its leaves, because once its leaves get wet, they rot very easily. Water just enough that the perlite does not float up.

5. After that, you can keep observing it. If you find the leaves wilting, you can water it. Gradually it will grow a root ball, and around July, which is the next flowering season, it will produce flowers.

II. Saving seeds:

1. If you do not need it to bloom again, you can keep and store the tuber after the last flowering season of the year, that is, after August. Cut off its leaves and stems, leaving 3 to 4 cm, which is good for the long term, and store the tuber in sand promptly. The surrounding temperature must be above 5°C. It is best to keep the surface of the sand fresh and clean, neither wet nor dry.

2. When spring warms up, the tuber will sprout. At this point, you can keep 2 to 3 sprouts and move them to a pot to continue caring for them.
