Figs are sweet and delicious, and they have many health benefits too. Figs sold in stores are quite expensive, so it's better to grow one yourself on the balcony. The method is simple, there are few pests and diseases, and by late summer it will be covered in fruit!

Rooting fig cuttings!

1. Around March or April, cut some fig branches, preferably with 2-3 buds on each branch.

2. Prepare a plastic bottle, fill it with garden soil and sand, water it once, then insert the branch. Place it in a semi-shaded spot, away from direct sunlight, with the temperature preferably above 15°C.

3. While waiting for roots to form, keep the soil in the bottle moist. After about half a month, the fig's roots will already have grown quite long and can be seen from the side of the plastic bottle.

4. After about 4-5 weeks, many leaves have grown and the root system is already very well developed. At this point it's time to transplant it into a flower pot.

5. After taking it out of the plastic bottle, gently clean the soil around the fine roots a little, and it's ready to be potted.

6. It's best to choose a larger and deeper flower pot, so the fig has enough space to grow.

7. After transplanting into the flower pot, it can start getting sunlight. The soil just needs to be slightly moist, and there should be no standing water in the saucer.

8. Potted figs lack nutrients, so during the growing season you can apply organic fertilizer 1-2 times a month, using a little less each time. Things like cake fertilizer or fermented fruit peel and vegetable leaf fertilizer are all fine.

9. Figs have few pests and diseases. If the variety is high-yielding, it can bear fruit in the same year, and at the latest it will bear fruit the next year.
