Cut flowers refer to the general term for flowers, branches and leaves cut from various plants. They can be used as materials for flower arranging, so they are also called "flower materials". Of course, their role is not limited to flower arranging alone; they are also very good for decorations such as bouquets and flower baskets. At present, cut flowers are also very popular and can be used as gifts for friends, family and so on. So, what are the common flower materials?

1. Common types

(1) Rose: Here it refers to roses in the broad sense, including three kinds of flowers, namely "Chinese rose", "rose" and "rugosa rose". Among them, the most common is the "modern rose", which was produced after crossbreeding Chinese rose varieties with European rose varieties. It has bright colors, a large corolla and a charming form, and is called the "king of flowers"; it can be said to be the most famous kind of cut flower. Its colors come in many kinds, including pink, red, white, bicolor and so on.

(2) Chrysanthemum: This is the most popular kind. Its colors are also very bright, and its cultivation in China already has a very long history.

(3) Carnation: Also called "Dianthus", it is very widely planted in China and even around the world. Its flowering period is relatively long, and it is a symbol of maternal love. It is mainly used as a gift for mothers. On Mother's Day, red ones should be given to express love for mothers; when a mother has passed away, white ones should be given to express remembrance.

(4) Gladiolus: This is what we often call "sword lily". Its leaves are as upright as swords, and its flowers are also beautiful.

(5) Others: Besides the above four, there are many other kinds, such as "tulip", "tree peony", "herbaceous peony", "jasmine" and so on.

2. Points to note

(1) Time: When cutting flowers, it is best to choose early morning or late afternoon.

(2) When cutting flowers, we should keep the flowers fresh for as long as possible. To achieve this goal, when cutting, the angle of the cut is best made at a 45-degree slice, which increases the area for water absorption and helps preserve the flowers.
