Dendrobium flowers are beautiful and have a pleasant fragrance, making them excellent potted plants, so many people like to keep a few pots of Dendrobium at home. However, problems can arise during cultivation, such as a Dendrobium that has been grown for several years without blooming. What is the reason for this? Let's find out together.

1. Increase air humidity

Cause: Dendrobium has high requirements for air humidity during its growth process, because wild Dendrobium generally grows in forests where the air humidity is high, often epiphytic on tree trunks or rocks. If the air humidity is too low, it cannot meet its water needs, which will inhibit its growth and may even prevent it from blooming.

Solution: During the growth of Dendrobium, it is essential to provide sufficient air humidity, with 80% being optimal. For its normal growth and development, you need to have a spray bottle and regularly mist its leaves, which can also maintain relatively high air humidity.

2. Reduce light exposure

Cause: As mentioned above, Dendrobium originally grows in deep mountains and old forests, generally never seeing sunlight year-round. So during cultivation, if it is exposed to strong light, the plant can easily be scorched by the sun, which will naturally affect its blooming.

Solution: During the care of Dendrobium, if the light is too strong, it needs to be properly shaded. Just let it receive some scattered light, or even no light at all, so that it can grow better and produce beautiful flowers.

3. Increase fertilizer

Cause: Dendrobium has a relatively high fertilizer demand, especially during the flowering period from April to May. If the plant lacks fertilizer at this time, it will affect its normal flower bud differentiation, thereby affecting its normal blooming.

Solution: Every year from April to May, which is the flowering period of Dendrobium, if you want it to produce more flowers, you need to fertilize before flowering so that the flower buds can form as quickly as possible and the flowers can be more vivid. It is recommended to apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer and control nitrogen fertilizer. After the plant blooms, you can also apply some organic fertilizer solution to replenish the nutrients consumed by blooming, applying 1-2 times per month.
