As one of the top ten famous flowers, the camellia is the first choice for many people growing plants indoors, but a single pot often looks too plain, so many people grow several pots. If you don't want to buy them, you can propagate them yourself. So what propagation methods are there for camellias? Follow the editor and take a look.

1. Seed propagation

In autumn, make them by hand, place them in a ventilated spot to dry, and once the fruit cracks open naturally, the seeds can be taken out. At this time the seed coat is very hard, and the seeds need to be treated before they can germinate faster. You can slit the seed coat with a knife or soak the seeds in water. After mixing the seeds, cover them with plastic film to prevent moisture from escaping, keep the temperature between 18-25 degrees, and ensure sufficient light while avoiding direct sunlight. Ventilate every day, and the seeds will germinate after one month. When the seedlings grow 3-4 leaves, they can be transplanted, one plant per flowerpot. Place the flowerpot in a ventilated area, water thoroughly, and after one week they can grow in the pot.

2. Cutting propagation

Choose a robust, semi-lignified branch growing at the top of the plant, cut a section about 10 cm long, remove the leaves at the base, keep 2-3 leaves at the top, and carry out cuttings in summer and autumn. Cut and insert immediately; after inserting, press the soil firm, water thoroughly, place in a cool, ventilated spot, and spray 1-2 times a day to prevent moisture loss. Keep the temperature between 20-25 degrees, gradually increase light, and after 1-2 months they will take root, at which point they can be transplanted into flowerpots.

3. Layering control

The seedlings obtained by this method are relatively large. Moreover, it is simple to operate and easy to survive, but it is not suitable for large-scale propagation. It can be done throughout the year, with April-June being preferable. First choose a robust branch growing on the plant, at a point 30-40 cm from the upper part, ring-bark 0.5-1 cm, then wrap the ring-barked area with moist soil, tie it tightly with a plastic bag, and keep the soil moist. Once the branch has taken root, it can be separated from the mother plant and replanted.
