Rose is a common flowering plant in daily life, and during cultivation, cutting is its common propagation method. This method is simple and quick, and generally a new plant can be obtained before long. So how should roses be cut? Follow the editor and take a look.

1. Cutting method

1. Cutting time

Although roses can be cut in all four seasons, the suitable temperature for them to take root is 20-25 degrees, so cutting roses in spring and autumn is most suitable.

2. Selecting branches

Both softwood and hardwood rose branches can be used as cuttings. First, use scissors or a similar tool to cut from the rose plant a branch that grows robustly and has no disease, with a length of about 10-15 cm. After cutting, be careful to trim the cut into a slanted surface, which is beneficial for rooting.

3. Soaking in rooting agent

Under suitable temperature conditions for cutting, roses take root relatively easily, but in order to further speed up branch rooting, it is recommended to soak the trimmed root system in rooting agent, which helps promote the branches to take root and sprout as soon as possible and helps improve the cutting survival rate.

4. Preparing potting soil

For the potting soil used for cutting roses, it is best to choose sandy soil, because it not only has good moisture retention and good air permeability, but also has excellent drainage performance, so it is not easy to cause root rot. After putting it into a flowerpot, water it to keep the sandy soil moist.

5. Cutting

When cutting, first use a small stick to poke a small hole in the sandy soil, then insert the branch into it. After cutting, place the branch in a cool place with scattered light, and a layer of plastic film can be covered on top. Water once every 2-3 days, and the branch can take root in two weeks.

2. Precautions

If the air is not circulating, the rose cuttings are very likely to rot due to suffocation, so after cutting, the environment must be kept well ventilated. If softwood cutting is used, the air humidity is required to be between 85%-90%, so that before the cuttings take root, the branches can remain fresh and tender and continue photosynthesis. Rose cuttings have relatively high light requirements; they cannot be placed in complete full light, nor can the light be excessive. It is best to place them in a shaded place, where 30%-40% light is visible.
