Ixora is a flowering plant with very high ornamental value and is fairly widely distributed in our country. It is loved by many people, and now it is not only grown in many households but also in many commercial growing operations. When we grow Ixora, there are many points we need to pay attention to. So what exactly should we pay attention to when growing Ixora? Below, the editor will give you a brief introduction. Let's take a look!

1. Light

Ixora has a very high demand for light during its growth process. Especially during the growth period of the stems and leaves, sufficient light can effectively improve leaf glossiness. It promotes the formation of inflorescences and improves the uniformity of flowering and ornamental value. Although Ixora can also grow normally in a semi-shaded environment. But the leaves of Ixora will be lighter in color, dull and lusterless, and the amount of flowering will also decrease, which will have a relatively large impact on ornamental value. However, under strong light in summer, we still need to provide appropriate shading to prevent leaf scorch and avoid affecting the normal growth of Ixora.

2. Temperature

When growing Ixora, we should focus on controlling the temperature well. The suitable growth temperature for Ixora is generally around 20 degrees, and in spring, summer, early autumn and other seasons, the temperature can be controlled within the range of 24-29 degrees. After entering late autumn and winter, although the temperature drops, it should still be kept between 13-18 degrees. In winter, the lowest temperature should not be below zero degrees, because if it is below zero degrees, Ixora is highly susceptible to cold damage. Ixora has relatively strong tolerance to high temperatures, so we should pay attention to temperature changes and avoid excessively low temperatures.

3. Water

Ixora likes to grow in a humid environment, and its drought tolerance is very poor. Just like its light requirements, during the growth period of Ixora's stems and leaves, its demand for water is greatest. Therefore, we must pay attention to keeping the soil moist. If the soil is too dry, it will have a great impact on the sprouting of branches and the growth of leaves of the Ixora plant. But water should not be excessive either, otherwise the roots are prone to being rotted by waterlogging, hindering the flowering of Ixora. The soil moisture content should be kept stable. If water is not supplied in time, Ixora is highly prone to leaf drop.

4. Other

During the growth period of Ixora, we should apply fertilizer about once every two weeks. The fertilizer is generally based on compound fertilizers such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, with the ratio controlled and mixed with water. An appropriate amount of fully decomposed fermented liquid fertilizer should also be added. Then we also need to do a good job in pruning Ixora, thinning the branches of the plant to improve the plant's air permeability. During the flowering period, proper pinching should be done to promote normal flower bud formation in Ixora and increase the flowering rate.

The above is a brief introduction to what to pay attention to when growing Ixora. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and we hope it can be helpful to everyone!
