Cineraria is a perennial herbaceous plant and a common potted flower, also known as the wealth chrysanthemum. It has relatively high ornamental value, and with its many varieties and bright flower colors, it is one of the more popular flowering plants in autumn and winter. However, growing it is not a simple matter. Let's take a look together below at the growing methods and precautions for cineraria.

1. Pot and soil selection

For growing cineraria, it is best to choose a clay pot of moderate size with good breathability. Add nutrient soil made from sandy loam, sawdust, and cake fertilizer in a 6:3:1 ratio to the pot. When potting, all lateral buds of the cineraria need to be cut off. This can reduce nutrient loss, promote root growth, and improve the survival rate.

2. Light and temperature conditions

Suitable light and temperature are the basic requirements for growing cineraria. Cineraria is a light-loving plant. During the bud stage, daily light duration must not be less than 3 hours, so that its leaves are deep in color and its flowers are bright. However, because it likes warmth but is not tolerant of high temperatures, it is best to keep the temperature at 10-15 degrees, and it must not be lower than 5 degrees or higher than 25 degrees, otherwise it is not conducive to its flower bud differentiation.

3. Watering

Cineraria likes to grow in a relatively humid environment, but the growing environment must not be too wet, otherwise root rot will occur. Because the plant's leaves are thick and large, it is best to keep the potting soil moist during the growing period, and also frequently spray water on the leaf surface to maintain moisture. For regular watering, just follow the principle of not watering until dry, and watering thoroughly when you do. When winter temperatures are low, watering should be reduced.

4. Fertilizing

During the growing period, generally apply a thin cake fertilizer water or compound fertilizer liquid once every 7-10 days. If the two are used alternately, the effect is even better. After planting, apply a decomposed fertilizer liquid once every two weeks, mainly decomposed soybean cake, and it must also be diluted with water. This can avoid concentrated fertilizer burning the roots. During the bud stage, apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer 1-2 times as a top dressing, and do not apply nitrogen fertilizer.

5. Precautions

In January of winter, cineraria enters the bud stage. At this time, the daytime temperature should be kept within 20 degrees. This is also a critical period for cineraria, so fertilizer and water management should also be increased. Ammonium dihydrogen phosphate can be applied to the pot to provide nutrients, and potassium dihydrogen phosphate can also be sprayed on the leaves, which can also maintain nutrients for the plant.
