How to repot jasmine? Latest method explained in detail
Jasmine can not only be used for ornamental purposes, but the making of jasmine tea has also been passed down for over a thousand years. In the past, jasmine flowers were planted as garden plants, but now more and more of them are entering households, and potted jasmine has also become a new fashion. Spring is the best time to repot jasmine, so how should jasmine be repotted? Let's take a look together.
1. Removing from the pot
Removing jasmine from its pot is not easy, because after a long time in contact with the soil and the inner wall of the flower pot, they easily stick together. So when removing it from the pot, pat around the flower pot with your hand to shake the soil and pot apart, then prepare a small shovel for loosening soil, and rotate it along the inner wall of the pot so that their connection is completely broken. After that, turn the flower pot upside down and pour out the roots and soil together. Take out the clump of soil sticking to the roots. After taking it out, break up the soil and gently shake it off. This makes it convenient to check the condition of the roots. Be careful during this process, because jasmine has many fine root hairs, so avoid pulling them off directly.
2. Root treatment
After shaking the soil loose, soak the jasmine roots in water. After rinsing them clean, check whether there are aged or rotted roots. These roots need to be dealt with in time, especially the rotted roots. Prepare a pair of sterilized scissors and gently prune away all these bad roots. This can prevent the spread of root rot. Also prune away aged and dried branches, which is beneficial for the growth of new root hairs and helps the roots go deeper. After pruning, prepare some fungicide, dilute it, and soak the roots in it for 5-10 minutes, then place them in a ventilated and shaded place, ready for repotting.
3. Potting
For repotting, prepare a slightly larger and deeper flower pot, so that it is convenient for the jasmine to take root. As for the soil, you can prepare some slightly acidic nutrient soil, because jasmine likes acidic soil. Then prepare some fertile peat soil and river sand, which can increase the soil's air permeability and drainage effect. After mixing the soil and sterilizing it, you can pot the plant. Jasmine likes a moist environment, so there is no need to add a drainage layer. When potting, place it into the flower pot, then slowly fill in soil, burying it 2 cm deeper than before, then press the soil firm, and water thoroughly to settle the roots. Move the jasmine to a ventilated place with little light and let it adapt to the new soil, which is called acclimating to the pot. After one week, it can be cared for normally.
