Yellow leaves and root rot? No need to worry, toss this into the flower pot and the roots will grow strong
Many friends say that flowers which look perfectly healthy at the flower market turn yellow and even die just a few days after being brought home. In fact, in many cases it is because we are not using the right methods to care for them. Many kinds of household waste in daily life are natural fertilizers, and using them for plants can achieve twice the result with half the effort.
Using eggshells for plants
Eggshells contain relatively rich minerals and trace elements, which can ensure the healthy growth of potted plants and can also drive away small crawling insects, especially those soft-bodied crawling creatures. When using eggshells normally, make sure they are cleaned and dried before use. Crushing them and sprinkling them on the soil works even better, and we can also mix eggshells into the potting soil with very good results.
We can also soak the crushed eggshells above in rice vinegar for one or two days, then dilute with water and use it to water and fertilize flowers with excellent results. The vinegar will dissolve some of the nutrients in the eggshells into the vinegar solution, so plants can more easily absorb the nutrients in it.
Overnight tea
The vitamins contained in overnight tea can nourish potted plants. We can directly use overnight tea to water flowers, about twice a month is enough. It is especially a very good fertilizer for acid-loving plants such as azaleas, jasmine, and gardenia, and it can also help regulate the pH of the soil.
Using okara for plants
If we normally grind soy milk to drink at home, the leftover okara can be buried in the soil and fermented for a few days, and it can turn into organic fertilizer. You only need to mix the okara with soil, sprinkle on a little water, then seal it well. Generally after about one month it will be fully fermented and can be used directly to care for plants. During fermentation you can also put in a little fruit peel, such as orange peel, banana peel, and so on, all of which work very well.
