Can Impatiens Be Kept at Home? An Analysis of Why They Fail to Survive
I. Is It Good to Keep Impatiens at Home
Impatiens are suitable for keeping at home. Although it is a toxic plant, as long as people do not eat it or consume it carelessly, it will not cause us any harm. Moreover, its plant form is petite and lovely, and when it blooms, the flower colors are vivid and the flower shapes are elegant, very endearing, with high ornamental value, and it can add to the atmosphere at home, so keeping it at home is very good. However, when keeping it at home, you must provide an environment conducive to growth; if the environment is unsuitable, the plant will find it very hard to survive and will not bloom.
II. What Is the Reason Impatiens Fail to Survive
1. Lack of light: Although impatiens have strong adaptability, if they are placed in a dark spot for a long time when cared for at home, the plant cannot get light and will find it very hard to grow and very hard to keep alive. It likes light, so it should be placed in a spot with light, and it must get at least four hours of sun every day; only then can it maintain normal growth and bloom.
2. Too much watering: If you frequently water the impatiens during care and there is standing water in the pot soil, its roots and stems will easily rot, and it will be very hard to keep alive. It is drought-tolerant and not tolerant of waterlogging, so if you water too much and there is standing water, it will not survive. You should reduce watering and let the plant get more ventilation; in the growing season, the soil just needs to be somewhat moist, and there must be no standing water. Only in such a soil environment can the plant grow vigorously.
